I used to hate watching Boro but recently they have become quite an exiting side. I enjoy watching the money teams battle it out but with teams like boro and villa I am reminded of golfs Padraig Harrington. Home grown clubs that aim high and use WHAT THEY HAVE to its best ability. keep goingsmiley

From BBC sport:

Southgate becomes the only person other than Stuart Pearce to win both the player and manager of the month awards during their career, having been named player of the month in January 2000 while with Aston Villa.

He is also the first Middlesbrough manager to collect the award since Terry Venables won it January 2001.

Southgate said: "I feel it's a great honour, not just for me, but for everybody at the football club.

"It's an honour I very much accept on behalf of myself and my staff because everything that we have achieved so far has been a team effort.

"I think the award is reward for the hard work everybody here put in during July to prepare for the new season.

"We have a really united club here and everybody has pulled together, and in that I include the players as well.

"There's a great atmosphere around the club at the moment and around the town, and long may it continue."

Class.

southgate deserved it this season because the boro are off to a great start
and they are playing more attacking football
if they keep this up they will not be in a relegation dogfight!!
excellent smiley

Southgate is a gentleman and a good young English manager, but him winning this award is a joke. They won 2 out of 3, one of which was a win against Stoke, which came late in the game!
Curbishley would have been a better shout for West Hams's start - but Hammers fans are so stupid they effectively got rid of him, and I look forward to seeing Hammers struggle under Zola.

Well dunne_and_dusted, after yesterday's performance, it looks af if Buck could learn a thing or two from Piggy!

The curse of the 'manager of the month' strikes again.

I think that maybe instead of Deco Zaki of wigan as i have watched him in every game he has played im a chelsea fan i should let you know but watchin zaki in ever game he has played has been a pleasure he really is something specially and gareth southgate no i think roy hodson of fulham should of got the award nearly 1 game away of being relegated and already 2 wins this season and a win in the cup with impressive displays beating arsenal and getting new players on score sheet
