Don't boycott the playersPremier League Newcastle United by Dr Gonzo (U10686642) 11 September 2008 Right folkes my point tonight is short and sweet. Do not boycott the match this weekend. To do so would be an absolute disgrace, how do you think the players are feeling at present, they need us to show up and voice our support for them. Nobody likes what is happening at the club at the moment, we the fans must stick together and help the players through this situation. The people who are willing to give up on the club are not real fans, they have some misguided idea that by not showing up at the games Ashley is going to leave the club and Keegan will return victorious, this is a fantasy. Ashley is the owner of our beloved club, like it or lump it, there is nothing wrong with voicing opinion's against the board from the stand, staying away will achieve nothing and will definately have a negative effect on the players. The saying "cutting off ones nose to spite their face" sums up the situation perfectly. Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

zoet07 (U10368097) posted Sep 12, 2008 Agree completly. Its only way to get of that clown. After the affair of Sheppard/Hall about the shirts plus opinions on N.E. women the fans should have stayed away then but did not. Its the empty SJP that will tell them time to go.

zingmatter (U1128961) posted Sep 12, 2008 The sad reality is that as far as Mike Ashely et al is that the fans in the statium are just "atomsphere" for the TV, and that's where the money comes from, not the turnstile. Bycotting won't make much difference. Civil disobedience (well stopping the opposition team getting to the ground) that'll hurt them in the pocket. Though violence by the fans would be a disaster. It absolutely has to be peaceful.
