What positives came from yesterdays game?

What can we take from the game? Yes we played one of the lowest rated teams in the world so it is hard to judge the overall performance. It is a game that we can't win. If we put 10 past them then it is expected, if we win 2-0 then it is a bad result. But hey that is how football is sometimes when you win you do not win in the eyes of the fans and the papers.

We now have the proberbly the hardest game in the group that a draw will be considered a good result in. So yesteday was a chance for the players to play well, get a bit of confidence going and maybe go and win on wednesday. But if anything the players will be even less confident after that performance.

Defence can't be commented on as they were never going to come under pressure. The ofeensive side of things is another matter. People moan about them having 10 behind the ball, so yes it will be difficult to break down but top teams can create the space and get a good amount of joy from these teams. The only thing that came from the match is hopefully Joe Cole will start against Croatia as he has shown again that he is a top player and how can Downing be considered a better player?
