Wayne Rooney is obviously a fantastic player, england fans who say he isn't i could not care less about, as i couldn't care elss about England to be honest.

As long as he is good for united then thats fine with me. He was brilliant vs Pompey and i thin khe will have a great season for us, especially with the addition of Berbatov.

Rooney is NOT an out and out striker, therfore he will never be a Drogba, Shearer etc etc.

Rooney is the main link fro mthe midfield to the strikers, hense why he often adapts a deep position. People seem to criticise him for this with England, however again he created something out of nothing and assisted for J.Coles second on Saturday.

Rooney scored 18 goals last season and has scored over 40 for united over the last two years, he has been our most consistent player since joinging from Everton...FACT!

He played sopmething like 6-8 games less than tevez who scored 24 i think last season, so as a link up player, this isnt bad at all!

Unless i am wrong, Utd have played "2" games this season yes 2 games !! One game against Newcastle where he wasn't fit and the second against Pompy which he played very well and should have scored 2 goals. Bit rusty is what i'd say.

But after 2 games for people to draw up the conclusion that Rooney is playing rubbish this season i don't understand.

I know he didn't play well in The Super Cup final but who did apart from Tevez ???

Rooney will come good this season especially playing with BERBATOV !!!

People who say that believe in one dimension for a striker. They believe they should play central and be able to finish. Rooney isn't a striker and probably isn't even a second striker. He is probably most like an attacking midfielder. He likes to create play and feed people from deep. He works hard has a great touch and vision and a decent shot but he isn't a clinical finisher.
I wouldn't swap Rooney for anyone. People who slate him forget that he has been the second most productive attacking player in the league in the last two seasons and second only to Ronaldo (number three is berbatov). Ontop of this he has been played out of position at times and constantly sacrifices himself for the team. He is the heartbeat and the passion of UTD and drives the team on like Robson and Keane did in the past.
Once again poor Rooney has been unlucky in pre-season. He isn't properly match fit and has been chucked in because SAF had no choice. Berbatov will feed Rooney this season unlike Ronaldo last season. SAF has said it himself the time has come to stop abuseing Rooney. Ronaldo's antics this summer have cost him the team being built for him to perform. The team is going to be built for Rooney to fly and he won't disapoint.

Does this mean Berbatov is goingto stop being the lazy poacher that is his style and start tracking back etc.

Or did you perhaps get this backwards.
Rooney is a talented player who has somehow lost his direction and been overshadowed by Ronaldo's last season.
