The race in Brussels between powell and bolt lived up to expectations with blistering times into a stiff headwind with Bolt running the fastest time ever into a headwind and powell running him close

Sub 19 seconds for the 200 metres - that is some way off, but you would not put it past Bolt in the future.

Bolt really put everything into breaking Johnsons WR in the Olympic final.

BUT Bolt is a young man and he could rewrite the record books several times over the coming years.

Most definitely Jesper0 -

The above times are predictions with respect to what he may be able to do at some point in his career...for example, when he ran 19.30 for the 200m, that would have been in the 19.10s if it had not been for the headwind...which in turn leads me to believe that if he gets stronger and faster then he could go faster than 19.10...

I don't think 9.50 ( or 9.45 ) is possible for at least another 3-4 years years...but have to agree with you, you just can't tell with this guy...

Just hope he never gets injured...

with no wind Bolt ran a 9.69 and Powell ran a 9.75

I love Powell but i think Bolt's pickup is just too good

According to this:

http://myweb.lmu.edu/jmureika/track/wind/index.html

Bolt's 9.77 into a -1.3m/s headwind (and bearing in mind neither Brussels nor Beijing are at enough altitude to make a difference there) comes to... 9.69 in zero wind. In Beijing, he ran 9.69 in zero wind.

Each of those could have been 0.05 faster with ease (Beijing with a 100% finish, Brussels with a good start). If he gets it all right with a tailwind, 9.6 will definitely go, but I'll go no further. For now...

Anyone else wondering if Bolt will consider the long jump? I'd love to see someone break the 9m mark for that, is Bolt the man for that as well?!?

"Excellent performance yet again by the Jamaicans ... 1-2-3-4 more than a sweep!"

I'd like to see Bolt do the long jump. But he won't. You have to love the event like Carl Lewis did and Bolt doesn't even know it really.

Can see Bolt going up to the 400 rather than getting into field events (unlike Owens/Lewis). Field events are less our thing.
And a love of the quarter mile going back to McKinley/Wint/Rhoden/Laing through to Cameron.
Yes, the quarter mile beckons

He was talked of as more likely to run 400m than 100m a few years ago I believe so yes, very good point. I would love to see him try the long jump but the 400m is the obvious progression, especially as his weakness (or perhaps more accurately inconsistency) at the start is less of an issue at that distance. I know I wouldn't want to be on the lane inside Bolt in a 400 watching his long legs eating up the back straight!

If bolt Had powells kick off then he would hold the records for a very long time

Me thinks the boy Vidic has either swallowed a calculater or a copy of the standard model for atomic physics. Either way I doubt he or she has ever been on a track, though I have a feeling Im about to find out. Darn my big mouth. smiley
