Asked to comment on the speculation about a possible Ronaldo move [to Man City], Ferguson replied: "They can talk."

Succinct, yet dismissive and derisory! Brilliant!

giggs_living_legend "I doesnt matter who you support, just that you stay loyal to them through the good and bad times." BUT the point is when you checked the tables in the paper and picked ManU u KNEW it would be mainly good times given their wealth. Its a lazy short cut and can't be very rewarding, and its certainly nothing to "banter" about with proper fans

The one thing I'll say about all this Man City millions, is that while al-Fahim has his shopping list of players he wants to bring to "Middle Eastlands" and has the resources to be theoretically be able to get them, the actuality of getting these players will be a different story.

Firstly, I'll start with C. Ronaldo, he has made no secret upon his desire to play in Spain, due to it being better weather, close to his homeland (and a little bit closer to his island of Madeira). So how will offering him more money than United are offering him make him change his mind about this? Nothing!!

Then you have Brazilian Ronaldo, He has played for 2 Spanish giants and 2 Italian giants, but throughout his career has never considered England, why? Thats a question only he can answer, but there has to be a reason why and why no amount of money will make him go.

Kaka, Messi, Villa, etc, have all been hunted by premiership teams and have turned them down before they even hear what the personal terms will be so why would Man City be any different?

The likes of Essien, Ferdinand and any other player already in the Premiership is a different story (with the exception of C.Ronaldo as above and most likely Torres too), getting talent to come to Premier League will be a task perhaps too big for Man City, but I wouldn't be surprised if they take some big names from other teams within the league.

And after all said and done if City get all their players, who says they will play well together???

He should get some perspective... these guys are worth £500 trillion so spending £135m on Ronaldo is the equivalent of someone on £40k a year spending ten quid!!!

No, I watched every game of which I was able to. I go to Old Trafford when I can, but as a student that's not very often. How dare someone say I'm not a real fan because I can only go when I can afford to? It's ridiculous.

Also, to say to someone else they picked United with knowledge that they were going to be a famous/good team is a complete joke as well. Why SHOULDN'T I support Man Utd? After all, I was born in Manchester, my whole family supports United and I started collecting stickers for my sticker book in like year 3.

But no, being a true fan is constantly whining about other clubs success. You can say we had money, but you need to do something with it, don't forget Giggs,Beckham,Scholes,Butt,Neville brothers. I can't of a more successful group of youngsters who went on (with some other world quality players indeed) to win the premiership. But that doesn't count because we're Manchester United, right?

haven't they got to get in the top four this season before they can do anything? don't think Robinho will do that on his own and January isn't gonna help. main problem is premier league is gonna go same way as american wrestling and formula 1 in other words set up sports entertainment.

Robinho isn't a top player. he wasn't good enough for the real first team and he knows it.

So megabucks means success? Chelski were the moneybags, yet for the last 2 yrs have won nowt!
Beaten by spurs, yes LOWLY spurs, in the CCF, and second fiddle to United in the premier league and champions league. Chelski spent a fortune on players, some bought to play in the reserves just to stop other prem teams having them. So lets not get too over excited Bitter Blues, even if you do tempt world class players to the council house, it doesn't mean they will gel and beat other prem teams.By the way Sparky, watch your back, the russian went through 4 managers in 4 years at Chelski, and the Arabs are not reknown for loyalty either!
