Jamie Carragher

Everton

comment on the article

I've just read the newest extract from Jamie Carraghers autobiography about being 'crazy about Everton' and a report in the Liverpool Echo about him wanting a mersyside testemonial derby.

*****
I'd like to make it clear that as an Everton fan i've never been prejudiced towards Liverpool players or fans alike.
*****

What struck me most about Jamies comments was how he spoke quite fondly of his Everton memories, which were quite surprising to hear after his previous book extracts which were to say the least contreversial.

In a previous extract from his book he wrote about the day that he choose Liverpool over Everton and turned his back on the blues for good. He spoke of the moment when he went into his local pub after losing a match for Liverpool and his Everton mates just laughed at him so he just turned round and walked away!

Fair enough, walk away from those so called mates but why walk away from Everton too!?

I hate to be patronising, but Jamie this is the real world, people snipe, friends become enemies, s*%t happens, but that doesnt mean that you just turn your back on your dreams and who you truly are!!

I'm sorry but as far as i'm concerned if you were a real blue in the first place you remain a blue for life (just like if you're a red you remain a red)!

I just dont understand!?

Being of non-liverpool geographical status i have always been a definite minority down south as apposed to the amount of Liverpool fans there are, but i have never been swayed by my loyalties no matter how much jesting and stick i got!

was Jamie mistreated, misguided? who knows, but his Dad by all accounts was a die hard blue too, and perhaps still is? Could he not have talked some sense into him!?

IMHO and adverse to others opinions i truly believe that Carragher was/is one of the mosted gifted defenders our country has seen but unfortunately (once again IMO) never seemed to fulfill his potential to the greatest of heights.

In view of my comments above does Jamie Carragher truly deserve to have a testemonial with Everton playing after so much has been said and done!? It shows that maybe it is something close to his heart and i commend his charity jesture but is he asking for something that maybe he doesnt deserve?

Actually, I do have a confession.

Well, two.

When Liverpool beat Barca in the semi (2001 was it ?) I had money on them, came to a couple of hundred the winnings.

And the recent game v Barca I was drunk and put £50 on a 2-1 correct score.

I was last seen haring round Woody's in Liverpool with a load of reds singing Riise chants.

Trust me, I feel deeply ashamed lads!

How come theres more Liverpool fans commentating on the post!? i'm sure posted it on the Everton board! biggrin

No seriously, appreciate your opinions guys.

Just a quick slightly off subject comment though, as sir loin was saying: the problem is the minority of fans spreading the hatred (on both sides) and i have to agree that Carraghers comments recently certainly havent helped this!

Why fuel the fire!?

Touch me Torres:
My points in the article relate more to the supporting side of things rather than the playing!

In agreement any professional player should be entitled to play for whomever they choose, but for the majority that doesnt change their roots!?

Ceannair,

Ten Hail Marys and three Our Fathers for you, my girl!

I have a confession too. I actually fancy a few of the Liverpool players. Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso and Sami Hyypiä. Mmmmm... They are soooo good looking! I actually went into the LFC shop in the city centre and bought a photo of Torres to stick on my desk!

Anyway, Carragher's comments were unnecessary, especially after the disgraceful events of the Anfield derby, and he's basically made himself look very very stupid.

Incidentally, I, too, have no hatred of Liverpool Football Club or its supporters. My own sister is a Red and so are a lot of close friends. As a proud Scouser living outside the city, I will defend them to anyone. Hating someone just because they support a different football team is idiotic.

But some of the comments from various people on these forums - myself included - have been uncalled for. If I have offended anyone, I apologise without reservation. I, for one, want to foster better relations between the two sets of supporters and hope that the forthcoming Goodison derby passes off without incident and, for once, is played in the right spirit.

Oy you!!!!!

Tsk tsk, men eh ?

One bit of girl fondling and they forget who you are!!

Personally prefer Young Master Riise meself - six pack you could grate cheese on, no longer plays for Liverpool so that's good and not girly at all - all man, with a bit of animal thrown in*!

*Yes, shamelessly nicked off Blackadder the Third!

Woof!!!!

Riise's not bad. Torres is very cute, so is Alonso and Hyppiä is just a hunk!

Anyway, gentlemen. We'll have less of that innuendo on these boards thank you very much!

Still in disbelief over the shock result last night. No, not Luxembourg beating Switzerland in Zürich but England trouncing Croatia. When I saw the score on Ceefax, I thought they'd got it the wrong way round!
