I saw an online article in the Daily Telegraph (I do not read this paper!) suggesting that West Ham may yet move into the Olympic stadium after 2012. Do you think its possible. What a coup that would be.

According to what I have heard, as there are no takers for the stadium they are building as it stands, they will be selling the site to a 'Premier League Team' who will knock it down and rebuild a 60-76K footbal stadium. Don't know if it is true or speculation, just heard it on the works rumour mill.

That would be the most ridiculous waste of time and money (knocking it down and re-building). As wasteful as Blunt's legal bills.

I'm in two minds about this idea. Would feel wrong, but then the gooners I know have warmed pretty quickly to the Emirates?

I thought the plan was to build a new stadium on the site of the old parcelforce depot by West Ham Station?

MBDH: I would normally agree but in this case; Apparently the Olympic Committee are not in favour of building a stadium for sole use as a football venue after the games. The original idea was that there would be a number of 'removale' seats that could be put away so that other sporting events (such as athletics) could also be undertaken in the Arena.

As there were no takers for that, they have decided to build a traditional sports arena for the Olympics and afterward are prepared to sell it to a top flight football club who will be allowed to re-build it. When they are talking of knocking it down, they actually mean to gut it and re-build the inside to a football stadium configeration.

This way they hope to get a reasonable price for the arena and the football club will get a stadium that they can convert in 18 months - 2 yrs, rather than building from scratch over 4 yrs (so I understand any way).

As I said, this is just a rumour at the moment.
