With the forthcoming international games coming up i just wondered if other Rams fans where feeling as apathetic as me.I am usually really up for the England games (especially Qualifiers)when there is a lot at stake but i can't seem to muster much enthusiasm for the next games.Could it be related to what is happening at Derby County and the depressing situation we are having to endure and it is carrying through to England and football in General or is it just aimed at England in particular with the failure to qualify for the world cup last time.

Foxy,i think we are heading that way too,the downturn in the economy may speed up the process,we could be seeing many clubs starting the season on minus points following administration.

guv - I believe Putin hasn't been in power for at least a few months now?

Anyway, back on topic, I usually look forward to England games with fervour, but like most people have said, not this time.

I think that the thing that really drums up interest in England is the 'tournament fever' every 2 years, with all the flags and the complaints about England flags being racist, and the councils who foolishly try to ban them, it stirs up national passion and makes us love our country.

With England's no-show at Euro 08, we haven't experienced that... it's like England are forgotten, nobody can work themselves up about it, because all we've had to get excited about for the past 2 years is qualifiers against Andorra, the biggest team we've played competitively since the World Cup has been Croatia, no wonder we can't get excited.

It also may have something to do with the fact we're away for these two, so a) 90,000 people won't get to see either game; and b) everyone who doesn't have Sky/Setanta will be left in the dark, which includes me.

Count G,

A minor point but Putin is Prime Minister (he stepped down as President because their constitution I think prevents them serving beyond a certain period of time). He hand picked Medvedev to suceed him but there is little doubt Putin is still pulling the strings as the recent Georgian crisis showed.

I am confident that we will beat Angora 2-0 set on the way by a 78th minute OG by the goat herder or the milkman.

"However, I am completely agahst to see that the squad is once again defiled by the presence of the donke, Heskey, why oh why!"

I presume you mean Donkey by the way. Wasn't Heskey one of the players that scored in that fantastic game you like to keep watching?

I'm not so sure, Ovine...

Maybe there will be an announcement today that the Andorran and Angolan national teams have combined into a formidable super-nation called Angora, striking fear into the hearts of England fans erm

There is a majore difference between the mighy Rams and England.

England have players at the top of their profession playing for them, picked because they are the best in the country.

Derby have players from the 2nd and 3rd divison or Prem players at the end of their careers.

Strange how they both perform badly.

Dear Bovine Admirer rearrange this into a well known phrase or expression. Sense I do not have of humour. Lateral is not to be taken as literal. There are certainly some embarassing muppets on this board.

Personally I haven't watched England for while now, started with the likes of Beckham etc, seemed more interested in his image than getting a result for the team, and I really detest the current crop, Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand etc., overpaid, over-rated IMO.
It would be nice if a manager could get together a squad from outside the big 4, without all the CL distractions etc., and with everything to play for, and promise them at the start of the qualifiers that if they get to the finals there would be no changes, get some team spirit going, in the vein of Jack Charlton's Ireland, then it may turn into a team for the fans to get behind.
They probably wouldn't win it, but couldn't do worse than the last time.

God I'm rambling and haven't even had a ale yet.
