SUPPORT THE BOARD !

Premier League West Ham United

..Someone has to !

We get a Billionaire owner who wants to get us into Europe and all we can do is criticise their decisions. If it was your money would you be happy at the transfers brought in by Curbishley and the style of play he introduced? NO YOU WOULD NOT !

He kept us up I hear you say...actually we had a huge run of losses and only when he decided to start playing Tevez regularly did we start to win....why didnt he play Tevez sooner??? No one questions that decision? What short memories you have.

So now he's gone there is a chance to wipe the slate clean and get the club moving forward but instead the fans have turned on the Board....why?....these are the same fans that booed Curbs after the Macclesfield game. The same fans that booed Curbs after we beat Derby at home....the same fans that were screaming for Curbs head when we were 2 1 up in our opening day fixture.

Fickle, fickle, fickle,....be careful what you wish for because if the owners decide they've had enough of this stick they may well up and leave and sell to God knows who. Frankly I'd rather give the Board the benefit of the doubt and support the choice of their new manager. Lets hope we get someone in soon to steady the ship and maybe in January we may find the Board have the confidence in the new manager to back him in the transfer market.

For me it has to be Mancini...great rack record, plays football the right way and a big enough name to attract the players we need at this club.

I am West Ham through and through, would never consider boycotting the club I love, unlike those looney toons. The club is bigger than any one individual.

COYI !

...and one more thing

All this talk of integrity and community spirit...This is the board that decided to retire the number 6 shirt and provide unprecedented support to the Bobby Moore Cancer Fund. Everytime i'm in the ground and see the big No.6 in the corner it reminds me that these guys seem to actually care about our history enough to have done that.

..I personally thought it was a great compassionate gesture.

...lets have a balanced view for once shall we?

...oh and by the way did anyone pick up Curbishley's comment about the new stadium? It sounded to me like work has started !

There has been a lot of stuff printed from all parties on this.
However as fans, we can only believe the WHUFC official site.
Whether you believe or trust the board will be down to your views and opinions. I am always a Curbs supporter as most of you know but, I will believe our official site. The papers can twist things and take sections of a sentence and use it to their advantage. That is how they get quotes, misquotes and rumours. It sells papers.

If we stick to our official site, at least we know where we stand.
As I said, its up to you what you think of the board and the rumours ok

Carlitos: I totally agree. The main role of any board is to give transfer funds to their manager. They did that aplenty. What more could realistically be asked of them? As for McCartney, you've got your dream move, so keep it shut. You no-longer play for West Ham.
And those who keep harping on about the board "getting rid of one of our own", you make it sound like Curbishley is a poor little orphan who has been kicked out onto the streets and now has nowhere to go. He's been paid millions, and will probably get a couple more. We, the poor fans, are left with Quashie, Boa Morte, Dyer etc.

Sorry you talk of supporting the board and state that you are an unbaised opinion but you sound like Scott Duxbury.

At the weekend 87% of fans were behind Curbs, KUMB survey rather than gutter press speculation.

People keep going about how the fans didn't support him, I'm sorry but the boo-boys were a vocal minority and will not be happy whoever we have in charge or playing for the team.

I like many others feel that Curbs was treated disgracefully by the board as have we as fans, they have lost my trust and my respect so why should I support them. I get behind the team and the manager week in week out don't tell me I have to support a greedy board who I believe are totally destroying our club.

Why should McCartney keep his mouth shut if he feels badly treated.

Quite. As i have mentioned before, whether people thought curbs was the right man is irrelevant. What matters is how he was treated by the board and that was utterly disgraceful.
I was listening to 5 live last night and they were on about Newcastle naturally enough and Waddle claimed that fans being the fickle people we are will soon forget if they win the next few games.
In our case as well as theirs that is just not true - i will support the team and whoever is the manger. But that does not mean i have to support the board.

I never heard the fans chant for Curbishley at any game myself.

I used to hear the fans chant for Pardew to give them a wave.

Curbs had no rapport with the fans whatsoever.

Why do people keep saying he was one of ours as if they all really cared for him!!

At nearly every home game the comments from around me were always that the manager did not seem to know what he was doing or that he could not change things during the game.

Well said Carlitos and lots I agree with on the associated threads. However you assess what's gone on it was pretty clear that BG had lost faith in Curbs - and I can't really blame him given:
> Curbs'/Mangnusson's transfer dealings
> daft wage deals for average players
> unadventurous playing style and
> demotivated players who only got on with it when the crowd did their stuff.

I liked Curbs and wouldn't have wanted to see him sacked but now he's gone I'm not all that sorry. I wouldn't disagree with Mancini (wonder if he could work with PDC who would be adored by the fans?) but my choice would be Bilic: seriously bright bloke (qualified lawyer (?), not that that signifies much, given some of the lawyers I've met); one of the best & most intelligent footballers I've watched in 40+ years at UP and no question in my mind he will take club management in his stride.

Those moaning about BG, just remember the Terry Brown era and be careful what you wish for. However tough, I can't fault too much of what the Board has done in all this. They clearly told Curbs to reduce the playing staff and improve the quality, pound for pound. He seemed unwilling or unable to grasp the concept so they took the decision out of his hands - and although I was disappointed with McCartney's departure, I don't entirely blame them.

Let's give whoever they bring in as manager a chance - and hope they play the West Ham way.

Good to see that there are a few people that are prepared to think for themselves and not just jump on the negative band wagon.

DJplayson...you're right, no one sang Curbishleys name even when we raced to a 2 - 0 lead against Blackburn...that was the time to do it and show support...but we didnt.

Heres another little reminder of how much Curbs was adored...I recall his first game in charge against ManU and what did everyone sing?....Alan Pardew's claret n blue army !!!
Honestly the hypocrisy of all this negative stuff is ridiculous !

In my opinion fans that boo their team or their manager should do everyone a favour and stay at home, or better still go and support another club.

I have never booed anyone other than the opposition.....I wouldn't be surprised if a few morons start booing the Board at our next home game...idiots ! What do they achieve other than to unsettle the players and give the journalists what they want...another negative news story about West Ham?

So show some support ffs and stop complaining. As I said at the beginning...this club is bigger than any one individual.

So stick two fingers up at the press and media and show some UNEXPECTED unity by supporting the club ...

..and here's another thought....

Imagine you are the greatest football manager in the World and you are interested in the West Ham job...only you turn up at Upton Park to find everyone booing your boss.....Do you take the job or do you have some doubts?

Moronic doesn't get close to describing some of the reaction on here.

See previous article Not the First Manager to be Undermined, any board will sell if the price is right regardless of the managers views. In my opinion Brown, Eggers and the current mob are all charlatans, a vile breed of self serving rogues without a shred of integrity when thier self interest is threatened. I have supported the club for 45 years and will continue to do so, but I do so knowing that I am being fleeced by the board.
