...and ordinarily the chat subject today would be about the game over the weekend, formations, selections, opponents etc... But it's an International break weekend and so we have to either suffer the trials and tribulations of following England (for the English amongst our clubs following) or expect the worst and get the best from the other home countries, including Rep Ireland whilst following the progress of our growing International contingent.

So to divert our attentions I thought I would pose the question of your prefered line up and formation. All things being equal i.e. no injuries and/or suspensions how would you set the side up for the current season? For me it would be:

______ Gordon______
Chimbo_Nos_Ferdi_McC
______Tainio______
_Malb___Reid___Richy_
__________Diouf____
______Cisse_________

Subs:
Fulop, Bards, Colli, Eds, W'hd, Jones, Healy

I can see Chimbo prowling down the right side with Nos filling in behind him supported by Tainio from a defensive midfield position. Attacking balls from Malbranque and Reid through Diouf with wide runs from Richardson and Cisse causing the havoc in the box for all of the midfielders to feed off. I've selected Cisse ahead of Jones because he's fit and playing now and Jones will need a few games before he gets back up to the speed of the premiership and to be honest, I feel that Cisse perhaps has more physical presence than Jones.

If we have to change round for whatever reason then Bardsley can sure up a solid back four, Collins can cover the left sided defensive position, Edwards can move out wide right and throw balls into Cisse and/or Jones for the attacking midfielders to feed off. Healy can come on and play the 'fox in the box' and creative striker position as well. So there's plenty of options in the squad and formation that I'd go for but I'd be interested in your thoughts.

No Kenwyne Jones?!?!?!

He will get goals this season with our improved creativity in midfield. Him and Cisse could form a great partenership I think. I would play Collins ahead of Nos and would rotate Rico and Diouf I think

I have a feeling when big Kenwyne comes back he will be miles better than last year with a years premier league experience, playing with quality players and will be hungry with being out for 6-8 weeks reported (that was about 3weeks ago), so I would have Kenwyne in the team

-------------- C.G -------------

-- P.C --- N.N -- A.F --- G.M --

-------------- T.T -------------

----- E-H.D -- S.M --- K.R -----

---------- D.C --- K.J ---------

SUBS: Collins, Fulop, Reid, Edwards, Whitehead, Healy, Murphy

I think there is goals in that team can see Diouf, Malbranque and Richardson all getting around 5-10 goals each a season and think Cisse and Jones uptop will be class, both have pace, Jones great in the air, Cisse unreal shot can see them getting around 20-25 goals between them

also now to England I predict 2-0 against Andorra and 1-1 against Croatia my team for these games would be

----------- James ------------

Brown - Rio ----- Terry - Cole

----- Beckham - Barry --------

Bentley -- Lampard --- J. Cole

---------- Rooney -----------

would play Beckham for central as he did when he first moved to Madrid him and Cambiasso where class in a midfield two with Zidane, Figo and Guti I think just infront, said its his fave position and think Bentley need to be brought in on the right

Sorry Poolie, but at work and bored I find myself disagreeing with you on the England front.

Against Croatia, your picks would be a wise choice, it would constrict their passing gake and give control of the game to those with the best distribution (Beckham). But against Andorra and other such teams in our group, you cannot play Rooney as a lone striker, he's just far too selfish and lacks the discipline to play there.

Also although playing Beckham in the CM position may benefit against Croatia, you might want to consider that the suppossed 'class' Real Madrid team involving those players finished 4th and got no where near winning their league until Capello took over.

Here's what I would play:

----------- James ------------

Brown - Rio ----- Terry - Cole

----- Beckham - Lampard --------

Bentley -- Rooney --- J. Cole

---------- Defoe -----------

I agree on the Jones front, that he'll be hungry and a better player than last year it's just that he's not kicked a ball since the end of last season and may be a little low on confidence. For the time being I'd be prepared to start with Cisse and use Jones as a sub getting 20-30 mins per game 'til he's back up to full strength.

What's nice though is the attacking options that we have, even including Chopra, Stokes and Murphy 'cause they are keeping the new lads honest.

Cisse more physical presence than Kenwyn - are you kidding? That aside, would agree and for the first time in a very long while we have competition and options all through the side.

I'd also like to see Fulop thrown in against Northampton - gives Flash a rest and Marton some encouragement. I feel we nearly lost a good keeper there and don't fancy either of the others are up to it if Craig loses form or gets injured. No one should be an automatic pick from now on if everyone's fit.

Hope Kenwyn's back for the mags game - they'll be sh*tting themselves!!

All I hope about Kenwyne is that he's the same player when he returns that he was before he was kicked by David James
