THE List. ..

So, we’ve all seen the shortlist, and PDC is no where to be seen. I can’t say I’m surprised. The Icelanders can afford no more mistakes. Mancini, Donadoni, zola, Houllier and arguably billic is still on the list.

Donadoni is the only one to have actually applied for the post should reports be believed.

It’s a sound looking list. I could have drawn it up, but what’s to say they would want the job?

There’s no time frame on getting the new chap in, the board obviously want to be as thorough as they can. I do have my reservations about getting the likes of mancini and Donadoni. They have worked with the worlds best. Could they really train and make the likes of quashie do what they require? Just look at the England team. Capello has failed to produce what he wants.

But let’s look to the positives. Fingers crossed the board would support the new chap financially. They would be able to lure some good names. The future could be bright and we could pull through the gloom that has ascended over the turrets.

An additional point. Would the introduction of a foreign manager spell the end of the best of british which we are proud to promote within our team? would a team of foriegn players be accptable at west ham?

Billic, i beleive could do the same as 'arry, but doubt we'd be able to get him, purely because of his commitment and love of his country. Money won't solve this one.

One thing's for sure, half the squad is not going to be around come next season. I doubt if managers like Mancini would play Mullins or even 21 year old Nobles... Forget Quashie etc.

Very likely we're going to see new faces (non English ones as well). At least the Board will be expected to fork out cash for these.

Without a proper transfer budget, no quality manager is going to consider taking the position.

Ironic in the sense that the Board couldn't possibly not know this. It looks suspicious almost like they wanted Curbs out...

The board have run out of trust. i can't bring myself to believe anything they say. Why should a prospective manager?

anyone considered that give Curb's lame ducks, crocks and non starters the Board simply weren't going to hand him a blank cheque again?

I'm (perhaps fruitlessly) clinging to the hope that the new guy will be given a beefy looking kitty come January but warned to do something with it other than simply running up a huge wage/medical bill or else

I think when they said English Manager they missed a word out! English "Speaking" Manager.

I think we sometimes get blinded by the celebrity of big name managers and immediately think they will work wonders. We have had good runs with (in Premiership terms) lesser known names, i.e., Harry and Pardew. A Championship manager might not spell disaster like everyone seems to think. And they are probably more likely to turn to the youth academy for new talent rather than the transfer window. Essentially bringing West Ham back to what it was once renowned for; producing and nurturing future stars. Back to basics, then.

"Bilic can't go because there will be a big political problem with Croatia. This is the usual speculation.

"Bilic can't go and, even if he loses against England, he is not going to leave as we are very happy with him.

"They might have money, but so do we and the Croatian FA has enough money to buy West Ham."

Made me laugh, talk about paranoid! What the hell do politics in Croatia have to do with it?!

Well, its patriotic. Bilic's beaten England once, getting him over could prevent a second and more terrible time. I can imagine the FA strongly urging the selection of Bilic...

No England in the Euros is one thing but can't imagine not being in the WC.
