Will Stephen Appiah be a Gunner?

Premier League Arsenal

So much has been said about an imminent move for Appiah by Arsenal-Apart from his availability and affordability,he has been injury plagued for a while now which infers he might not last the whole 50+ games; and mite be a regular in the Carling + FA Cup squad.
I know his inclusion to the squad will increase the Arsenal fan base especially in Africa but does he have what it takes to last a season with free flowing soccer.

He is 12 years too old for Arsenal

if we do sign him what does that tell you about our transfer policy and scouting network?

I cannot believe that the club deliberately left it until the window closed to start looking for the DM the whole world and it's mother knows we need!!!!

This has to be option 3,789 on the list of possible solutions to the paucity in our midfield!!!!

It looks like a desperate measure, and the fans sound even more desperate!!

Quite frankly I'd prefer that if we're looking for solutions we find 'em in the THREE months we have when the window is openok

You have a point and I must admit that am a bit desperate for AW to shore up our midfeild. But on the other hand we are actually talking about a player of very high calibre who could solve our problem perfectly. He would also be free so the intial cash outlay is zero. His health is the only real concern for me.

But as always we can discuss it all we like but AW is the one making the decisions thankfully.

Do you lot not realise that Arsenal are strong enough to win the title this term without signings?

yeah yeah, i'm mad, blah blah...

But please analyse very closely the squad and that of others.
Robinho will do nothing for the first half of this season except fancy step overs then get kicked by a CB for showboating..he'll be injured for at least a quarter of the season.

Ronaldo's heart is in Spain and he is biding his time, Berbatov is over priced, Over rated and over here.

Chelsea are creaking and dont look anywhere near as formidible, Man City will need anoth 100M to make then top four material, Spurs have Ramos..end of, Liverpool have Rafa...end of...Man Utd are a stuttering giant.

All round i think the odds range of either 7/1 or 9/1 for AFC to win the prem is a good punt so get on it lads and lasses.

You write off Man U and Chelsea so easily, I would say that was naive. Of course I would love it if you are right.

I agree that Pool and City are not a real worry.

It is by no means certain but I think that Chelsea will be affected by the events of Monday. So much of their confidence is based on the knowledge that they can outspend everyone else. This is no longer true, and it seems that the new and somewhat childish owners of Man City will try to make a point of exerting their financial superiority over Chelsea come the transfer window. I don't think Scolari is someone who can particularly help in this situation. And never forget, this is all very new to him.

Man Utd are going to regret signing Berbatov I think. He is a fine player but his ego is too big and his work rate too low. I think that once again, the looming figure of City, along with the knowledge that Ferguson's days are numbered, will combine with the arrival of Berbatov to lead to tension. I think Tevez may suffer from Berbatov's arrival and possibly leave.

Of course this is all just a hunch, but that is what I predict.

We will see.

Subject to a quick resolution of his ongoing injury problem he would be an excellent bet as a free signing.

AW is not averse to signing injured players - Bischoff and Silvestre who both cost a transfer fee - so why not take a chance with a free acquisition of a much superior player ?

However AW is an implacable person with regards to his players so maybe something just dosn't sit right with Appiah. I just do not know but it is increasingly looking like an unfounded rumour.

think man city will worry chelsea, but not this season if anything i can see chelsea going all out while man city are going to be in the transitional period. reckon next season when there owners have bought all the player they want then they'll be a big threat. not sure if mark hughes will be there by then though, ill bet the owners have very little understanding of the game and show him the door if theyre not stringing wins together a few games in

In comparison to Alonso, I would rather have a healthy Appiah for 14 million than an Alonso on a free. He is a monster on his day.
