Couldn't do any worse than Jewell, as had a good track record with Charlton running them on a shoestring playing passing football, gone Pearson be brave sack Jewell and get Curbishley in,or if you really want to be brave how about King Kev just departed Newcastle, at least we haven't got Wise now that would be a nightmare.

I totally agree, the moment I saw heard that Curbishley and Keegan had both left their previous premiership clubs I thought straight away what if......maybe just maybe they could become the new manager of Derby.
Paul jewell I'm afraid just isn't up for the job and after nearly a year in charge ahs done nothing but ruin the club. Both Keegan and Curbishley left because they weren't getting a say in the club, however at this current moment of time the owners of Derby County allow the manager to have a full say in what goes on at the club.
The thing the owners and chairman have to do now is sack Mr Jewell and untill they do that we will just get worse!

Question is my friend can we afford to?

If the board keep using the clubs funds to pay up manager's contracts we'll never get the investment of the field we need.

Both the managers you mention left because the board didn't back them with the signings they wanted to make. Presumably they wouldn't go to any club that put restrictions on them in that area... but surely after all the transfer activity we have been involved in over the summer there's got to be a period of stability now?

I don't think either man would come to a Champ Club anyway.

More importantly, can we afford not to? At the moment we look more likely to be battling relegation, then battling for a place in the playoffs!

Im not looking for a scrap here just gonna put my ten cents worth of opinion in.
Be careful what you wish for you wooly people. Derby currently are and could continue down a path that Forest took a few yrs ago..all these big names flying around could be a disaster in the making. Im not saying get Nigel Clough ( he has no ambition ) but go for an up and coming manager rather than a big name..big names have ego's they want money and they think name alone demands success..whereas an up and coming manager works for his living to get success. We learned that the hard way and as much as we're rivals i dont want to see you take the same path..I'll be content to see you finish 4th from bottom on goal diff every yr..thats not bad but dont follow our path..it's miserable.

A golden opportunity presents itself in the shape of two managers whom have resigned from their respective clubs. With the situation as it is at the club, with our present manager suffering from poor results and team performances, do the Derby County Board have the ambition, guts and determination to give it a go and try to a sign either Alan Curbishley or Kevin Kegan as manager, while there is a chance to do so before anyone else does.

If only our manaager had no say in which players were signed and sold, we would be in a much better position. Any chance of signing the Newcastle or West Ham board?
