KK - just a quitter, or justified??

Premier League Newcastle United
comment on the article

Newcastle fans, do you think that Keegan's quit on you, again?

Did you honestly think it would be like his last time he was your manager?

You know what they said KK - NEVER GO BACK!

And since he walked out on you the first time, what's he done?

Fulham - promised he wouldn't go and that he'd see out his contract with them, then quit to manage England.

England - quit after saying "I'm not tactically good enough to manage them".

And despite that trademark honesty, he then found further employment as a manager with...

Manchester City - who he quit on and walked away from management, and indeed most of football apart from working at the 'Soccer Circus' football school in Glasgow. Eventually it was, amazingly after 3 years away, back to...

Newcastle United, where I wish now I'd put a large wad on him not seeing the year out.

Geordie people, don't cry, he's not the savoir, he's not the man you need in charge. He's just a decent honest guy who's probably too emotional to be in charge of a top flight club. Notice his hair went from black to grey in the few years with you the first time, he can't handle the pressure, so lets all leave him alone to get on with his life.

"That being said, on this occasion, he was thoroughly justified."

Unfortunately you're basing this on speculation, it's possible Keegan just lost interest in football as he's stated himself in the past.

Alex Ferguson may have been justified in leaving Man Utd, at the beginning, when he was under massive pressure from the fans and the board.

However he gritted his teeth, worked with what he had and won through in the end.......just a question of courage and determination, two qualities Keegan seems to lack.

The point that I quite clearly made was that he categorically stated that he WOULDN'T leave Fulham for England, and would see out his contract, but he went back on that within days.

Try having ALL the words read to you next time doh

so, a man has principles, is not prepared to sacrifice them and that makes him quitter? what a pile of garbage!
he came back under the misconception that he was the manager with total control of the football side of the business. to have that taken away from him only 8 months into the job smacks to me of hypocrosy. strange how two managers, within days of each other walked away from a job they were not allowed to do.

The 'man of principles' runs away from the job, fair enough he's entitled.

However he has claimed, many times, that the Newcastle fans are the reason for him taking the job twice.

So the question is, did Keegan believe that him going was in the interests of the fans or not?

If not then why didn't he show the courage of his so-called convictions and do his best for the fans?

Newcastle fans were raving about the new signings, claimed Owen, Given and Martins were world class, had a top manager and motivator and a crowd worth a goal start.

So why was it SO impossible for Keegan to roll his sleeves up and do his best?

Quitter. 5 times. NUFC twice, Fulham, England and Man City. How on earth does this very flaky fool get contracts.
He joins because he believes his own press. It dawns on him that doing press ups and running is not coaching and he orchastrates an exit. The man is a clown and needs to be sued for everthing.Principles indeed! 99.9% have worse jobs, less money put up with more interfearance from our bosses and we can't resign on priciple, not once let alone 5 times!!!

If your hands are tied and an underling who comes into the club after you is allowed to overide whatever it is that you want to do it becomes an untennable situation.

The Cockney Maffia showed where the power lay and didn't give the manager much choice other than walk away.

When Newcastle fans thought Keegan was overseeing signings you were raving about them.

You were saying throughout the close season that the squad, prior to those signings, was capable of a top half finish.

So why couldn't Keegan have got stuck in and worked hard with the players he had?

After all if he wanted to show that he cares more for the fans and the club than himself it wouldn't have killed him to try would it?

No manager gets all his own way all the time do they?
