"Even if he is fit, he barely gets the chance to show it anymore."
-----------------------------------------------

Sorry Johnny (bruv!), there's are several very good reasons why Benni doesn't get fielded.

Apart from the fact that his form is incredibly inconsistent, either playing fairly well or (more often than not) mincing around up front with a complete disregard for teamwork and a general aura of "Well, give me the ball, I can't be arsed fighting for it.", what's the point in fielding him when Roque and Jason are more talented and far more consistent, and Matty works at least ten times harder than him (100% of the precious little time he (Derbs) gets played).

I don't see why the club seem so keen to hang on to him. Why we didn't cash in during the transfer window is anyone's guess.

""My problems at the club started when Paul Ince walked in,"

interesting

I felt he'd started to look disinterested (and if i recall correctly he admitted as much) when Chelsea were meant to be coming in for him.

Now it's Ince's fault?

what a prima donna.

if you want to lay a claim for him to play because he can bang in 20 goals a season, we might as well play him with fowler alongside him. we all know he could bang 20 a season in.

10 years ago. i would actually hazard a guess that fowler is fitter than benni mclazy.

What have you been sniffing Dave?!!!

Never is Roberts more talented than Benni. The only issue with Benni is apparently his fitness and maybe his attitude.

Ability wise, he's one of the best in our team. World class on many occasions.

And I think you'll find that the reason he is out of the team is because he picked up an injury which gave Roberts and Matty the chance to prove themselves. Roberts duly took his opportunity with both hands. Sparky then said that it was only fair that Roberts retained his place due to the way he took his chance. His form has not dropped since and fair play to the lad. Best player for us so far this season IMO.

I am not trying to say that Benni should start ahead of him at all. I just think that a lot of people on here are making a lot of assumptions about him without really having any idea what's actually going on.

He now finds himself in the exact position that Derbs is in. Being given 10 minutes every 2-3 games at the end of a match with hardly anytime to make an impact.

less than 2 weeks before start of season my mates went out round manchester on a monday nite for someones birthday and saw benni mccarthy out in a nightclub (tiger tiger) if he was that bothered about gettin in the team for the start of season he would av been tucked up in bed ready for trainin on the tuesday morning. if he is on 40k a week we needget rid but id rather take a lesser sum from a turkish team than sell to sunderland as he is the kind of player that will come back to bite you.

I don' think McCarthy has ever looked world class in a Rovers shirt as Johnny_rover seems to think. He blundered 20 goals into the net in his first season here because he was the only person to be on the end of the crosses coming in thick n fast. He looked lazy then, he's been shown up for it now. Please let's hope he goes in January and we can get someone worth playing instead.

For starters, "blundered"?
You obviously didn't see him at all in his first season or you're trying to bend things to try and fit your argument. Watch back any of his goals from his first season with us and you'll see.
Remember his "Blundered" goal that won us the cup game against Arsenal?

As far as being the "Only person on the end of the crosses". Anybody who knows anything about football will know that at least half of a strikers greatest abilities is positioning. The "luck!" of being in the right place at the right time.

And your entire comment is tailor fitting for Ruud Van Nistelroy. One of the most prolific goalscorers in the world for the past few years. Hardly ever leaves the box. Does no running whatsoever. But is there to put them in. Exactly what a strikers job is.

Criticise his weight!
Criticise his temperament!

But you cannot criticise his ability!

Oh, and another thing!...

"...and I think you'll find that the reason he is out of the team is because he picked up an injury..."
___________________________

That may have been the reason he was first removed from the team, but I think the reason he's still out of the team is fairly obvious to all!

Fine, bring him on, but I'll warrant the only time you'll see him bother his arse to break into a jog is when the pie stall opens.
