Will Nathan Ellington Play?

Championship Derby County
comment on the article

As you all know Derby fans Nathan Ellington is Muslim. Ramadan has just started and im pretty sure he will follow his religious beliefs. My question is will he play during Ramadan? Otherwise its back to Hulse up front alongside Tito Villa. Wouldnt mind giving Paris Simmons a run though.

I believe you can only eat after the sun has set for Ramadan.

He wasn't playing before though so i can't see him playing now anywayok

Yeah - Gee-man's right - one of the guys I work with is fasting during daylight.

I wouldn't have thought that playing on a totally empty stomach is a great idea, but it's not impossible to play.

He'll probably still do better than Hulse, though :/

Ramadan changes dates each year I believe, at the moment the person fasting will not eat or drink even water from around 04:00 or 04:30 to
20:00 or 20:30 I forget which.

The fasting does not affect working and in this case the game of footy is a paid job so work, but energy could be affected I guess.

It'd make a change to have at least one hungry player on the park!

Boothroyd is a progressive manager who wants his players on the right diet, but Ellington is observing Ramadan. He is not supposed to eat or drink in daylight hours. Surely that has brought conflict?

"Not really, because after sunset you can eat and drink as much as you want," he said. "You have to get the nutrients back into you then.

"You can get up before sunrise and make sure you have enough food inside you. I was up today at 5am to pray — and I ate early. On match days, if I'm travelling, there are provisions to eat and make up for it afterwards.

"Honestly, it hasn't affected my football. I've not encountered any prejudice through my religion. I've not suffered racist abuse, but I've had team-mates who have."

laugh I'm sure Commons is always hungry, and Ernie always used to be thirsty.

Muslims dont understand the religion but mayby thats because i dont want to,but what little i do know is that they fast during Ramadan in order to understand what it is like to feel hunger as suffered by millions of people worldwide..and then cone sundown there eating like theres no tommorrow..hm me thinks genuine hunger..draw your own conclusions.

when nathan played for us, he always looked a yard off pace, but i actually thought he was at his best during ramadan, he got progressively worse.

how has he done for you so far, he got a hatrick in the carling cup right?

also how is jordan stewart getting on?

Are you lot pleased with the signings of Ellington and Jordan Stewart so far then?

I know Ellington got a hat-trick in the cup but how has he been doing in the league?

What do you make of Jordan Stewart?
