If he was so concerned about 'time to gel' why did he not start pre-season training early, he readily admitted that it was a massive re-building job, yet still didn't insist on an early return. A measure of how seriously he takes the job maybe????

My point, Cuttsy, is that the players are not going to gel whilst their positions on the pitch are determined by Paul Jewell's footballing logic, which appears to be using lottery machine Guinevere and set of balls No 6.

Addison at DM? He's played it well, but how come if waits 4 matches into the season before trying it? Green as rightwinger? WTF? Best attacking midfielder we've got, so let's play him out of position?! Why not stick Carroll up front while we're at it, he's a big lad!

Jewell brought shedloads of new players to the club.. Why is he only now realising their best positions and their limitations? Because he's an idiot is why. Get shot of him, get someone in who knows something about the game other than the size of the paycheque it brings. Useless.

here is an interesting quote from some1 we all know and love

Players lose you games, not tactics. There's so much crap talked about tactics by people who barely know how to win at dominoes.

So how much more time does he need.

He is now taking the proverbial, he DID (as I keep posting)hide behind the situation last season.

He did win less points than BD in the Prem.

All of which some of you overlook, I personally think he is great, he has done more to cheer up Forest fans than CC ever will.

I hope he is there for years

How can your players gel when you don't have a reserve side, surely that would be a fundamental thing to have in place? Am sure you won't go down, providing you don't have jewell managing you, but i think he is not even good enough for that league.

surely if you essentially have a brand new team it makes sense to tinker around in preseason to find the right combination. addison is being played "out of position" and is better for it. other players may be showing aptitude for positions in training they havnt traditionally/dogmatically done in the past (since their PE teacher played them as xyz).
does anyone on here regularly see them train....love to hear your views if you do.
were ALL frustrated, of course we want results immediately but i just dont buy into his sack the manager magic wand solution. you deride gelling as if its something money can buy. FFS this is the real world and until you accept it your expectations are going to be unrealistic.ok

What I'm saying Kernow (how did glasto go BTW?), is, yes I know they need time to gel, but why is Jewell swapping and changing so much, disrupting the process even more. Also why does he keep playing players out of position when he has just bought a complete team, was there no thought about whether they would fit into the system? And why play players who have the losing mentality when there are new players on the bench?

Deep breath, aaaaargggghhhh, this is getting too muchfor me.

the clod/mceveley/savage conundrum is, i have to say, way beyond my comprehension and is utterly inexplicable. if i could enlighten you as to why those 3 even have numbers on the back of their shirts i'd be a happier man.
as for the new team/men for every position then swapping and chopping issue -its one helluva lot of players to get to know in a short space of time,we're only just getting to see a settled starting XI.
i can also well imagine some of the newbies came to PP all excited only to have the stuffing immediately knocked out of them by a hostile crowd. "wtf have i done?" perhaps.

glasto was mad, even pulled a decent crowd and got asked back.(note to self: drink less cider next time)ok

to put all that a bit more succinctly....

perhaps we underestimate the enormity of completely rebuilding a team.

ok
