I saw Stig Tofting not so long back sat on seat in front of me in the south stand with a youngish team of players (you know how they do). I didnt even recognise it was him until he got up and wal;ked over to dugout for some half time presentation.

i hope not. Think we have enough defensive midfielders already, he is not the creative midfielder we need.
If wasn't past it, he'd still be at EFC whose defence are over run without carsley playing in front of them.

Stig was called lawnmower because he covered every blade of grass on the pitch. Not only was he hard he was a real workhorse.

There's a great story about Tofting from a very very good source (don't ask).
Sam and PG met him in a Hotel bar in Germany. Tofting's agent was horrified that Stig had turned up in Hell's Angel gear. So he marched him over the road before the meeting and found a shop to buy a suit in a hurry. He turned up in this ill-fitting suit, with T-Shirt and a peaked cap, looking like (in Sam's words) Norman Wisdom.
The 'interview' went well then Sam said something about 'attitude' at which point Stig took off his jacket, still in a hotel foyer remember, then took off his T-Shirt to reveaal the huge tattoo across his back which says 'No regrets'.
Sam signed him on the spot, PG's mouth still wide open.
Magic!
