Federer to get Mullered in quarter-final

US Open

Now that grabbed your attention but actually I don't think he will.

Firstly, Muller had to qualify for US Open. He's also been in two 5 set matches. The guy has played a lot of tennis.

Secondly, Muller is renowned for being a bit frail mentally - its said to be the reason why he has not fulfilled his talent. Federer on Arthur Ashe court will be a step up from the matches he's had so far this US Open.

Thirdly, I know Federer can find left-handers difficult, the other aspects of Muller's game (i.e. the aggressive net play, big hitting, etc) Federer generally handles comfortably. Federer likes a target, and will make full use of his passing shots.

I believe Federer will be back on track after a couple of lapses in his match against Andreev. And all in all, this will be a match too far for Muller.

Ees! But isn't the point that he's won on clay, grass and whatever surface the US open is on. Poor old Rog hasn't really come close to winning at Roland Garros has he?

Apart from the finals he's made, no. Nadal hasn't reached the US Open final yet so the comparison is moot, and actually in Federer's favour.

One thing is for sure. MUray will have to play a more consistent game against Nadal than he did in his quarter final match.
He had some horrible lapses on serve at critical times, which would be fatal if repeated against Nadal.
One comment on the posting about all the semi finalists coming from countries beginning with S. I was thinking this. If anyone had said a few years back that the semi final at the US open will be contested by a Swiss, a Brit, a Serb and a Spaniard, most people would have laughed themselves sick.

Totally agree, frentury. It was Andy's horrific start that left him with amountain to climb. Barring the stupid drop shot at 5-5 at the TB and the two DFs (well, Andy had no choice but to go for huge 2nd serves considering how well Djokovic was returning), Andy actually played some of his best tennis in the third and fourth set but unfortunately, it was too little too latesadface

Not sure what kind of correspondent describes Murray as a sexy beast, his showing of 'muscles' was in very poor taste indeed.
Win the matches by skill and by all means play to the crowd win or loose but that is certainly not what Murray does.
Nadal is a fantastic athlete which unfortunately Murray will never be. I have a feeling he will be there for a very long time and if he stays fit break every record. Federer, though still fantastic might well call it a day soon, especially if he looses this tournament.
Nadal the new number 1 & Olympic gold medal winner for his country ( did Murray play? Never been a team player!)
Well done him......

You're obviously a Federer Fan like myself but Nadal just seems to improve all the time on all surfaces while Roger seems to decline. I'd be delighted if he won at Flushing Meadows but I just can see it happening.

LOL.

Murray doesn't have the class to beat Federer? I was under the impression that he had a 2-1 record against the Swiss. Hmmm.

I hope Murray wins, just to silence the muppets who continually pick on him for the most spurious of reasons.

murray will have to step it up from his previous match against del potro for sure. but nadal hasnt been on the best of form(as shown in previous matches) and i think murray has his best chance against nadal, even more so than their 5setter in australia the other year. lets go murray!!

Sorry about repeating myself, offcourse you understand it's because these are my first coments here smileyI think everything you said is spot on,the next two big mistakes, beside the start of the match, were the too-much forsing of the second serve, when 5-4 and 30-0 up in the forth, and then that moment of madness with the drop shot.

"Murray does not have the class to overcome the fed express"

damn right he doesnt -good call 'lightHopkinson'

even though I think Murray is just so miserable its aggrivating he does deserve to win the semi and then get crushed
