Monday Afternoon (something, something...)

comment on the article

We are less than 24 hours away from the start of the NFL season! As we await the Giants' battering of the Redskins, I thought I'd give you all a quick heads up about what to expect from me each Monday.

Every Monday afternoon, I will be writing a report on the weekend's action. The below is the headings you can expect to see. As you'll see once you've finished reading, I am open to suggestions on different titles. Suggest them, you might see them in there come next week!

I will also come up with a witty name for the Monday review over the next four days... but for now, here is what you can expect.

Game of the Weekend:
Here is where we’ll discuss how brilliant The Sopranos is. We’ll also take a look at my pick for game of the weekend.

Awards Section:
-Team
-Player(s)
-Coach

Tim’s NFL Moment of the 9-Hour Marathon:
I just sat up for nine hours watching the football. As a result of this, I’m going to give you my highlight of the glorious session. Will it be eating nacho cheese crisps? Can Eli Manning give me a reason to mention his name in this hallowed section? We’ll have to wait and see.

Players most likely to need some TLC:
Which player took the biggest hit of the weekend? Someone is lying in a cold iced bath somewhere trying to heal their wounds, and they will be named here.

Giant douche award:
Who will have hid in the showers after a horrendous performance? They will be named and shamed here.

Did he really say that?!:
I love NFL commentary; the commentators speak with such enthusiasm. Which quote warmed my heart and soul at the weekend?

The Raiders 8-8 Prediction Watch:
We all know I put my insanely strong reputation on the line during the offseason when I predicted that the Raiders would go .500 or better. We’ll keep a check on their progress here.

Woe is my Fantasy Football team…:
My Fantasy Football 606 draft was awful, and we’ll look at the progress of the league here.

What happened to Adam?:
If you haven’t already, you should check out www.adamsfootballtrip.com This guy is going to 35 NFL games this season, and he’s chucked in his job, girlfriend and flat in order to do so. I’ll be checking in with him each Monday.

Why I loved the NFL this week:
There is a time every Sunday when I thank the lord for football. This week it was…

Calorie / Heart Condition Meter:
I eat a lot of rubbish when I watch sports. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it’s who I am. We’ll keep a check on how close I am to a heart attack in this section.

Girlfriend Annoyance Level (GAL):
I live with my lady, and she’s a wonderful gal. But I’m not sure if she’ll be able to handle my nine hour football marathon every Sunday. I’ll rate how annoyed she got at me.

So guys, there it is. The first Monday Afternoon blah blah will be up next week. It’s been a great offseason but now it’s time; let the football begin!!

If you guys have any other headings you’d like to see, suggest them below. If I like any of them enough I might well add them in

thanks for the warm wellcome back everyone.

I am actualy feeling good about tonight. Remember we won in the Meadowlands late last season and we have added to our team where i see the Giants having lost key players.

Winning will be tough but I think we can sneak it.

Something akin to Deion Sanders' "primetime" slot on NFLTA would be good.

You're going down Riggins, we are the Super Bowl champs!!

As for Martin, he is my NFL mentor, so Jonzee's excellent wrestling refereeing skills will not be needed!

RE Fantasy Football, totally up to you Gilly, I'm sure they are both very similar. Get it up and running!

PS Ready to se Brandon Jacobs rush for 300 yards tonight? I know I am.

Giants did great to grind through that opener.
Tynes wasnt playing but the replacement did excellent with his kicks.
Manning needs another receiver to step in my opinion.

Fantasy will be set up in next few mins

You get to write on here after 11 Tim? Soooooo unfair!

Gilly is right- NYG need a red zone target.

Neither teams overall performances convinced me of their playoff chances, but the G-Men got the job done in the end.
