Enjoyed this interview, shows why M Jayawardene is such a fine leader

Hope others enjoy the interview as much as I did

G Smith and Ponting may be the top leaders out there and Dhoni an upcoming one as is KP but over the last few years consistently Jayawardene has impressed me the most

Captain Cool indeed

This particular unofficial Test was played on the wicket at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom in South Africa. I think the wicket is little faster than the one at the SSC.

yeah.. who knows may be Warnapura/Kandamby could be the combo we have been waiting for.

I think players likes of Warnapura, Dilruwan and Kandamby may perhaps be better than players likes of Silva,Kapu,Dilshan,Mubarak and Tharanga. It's better to give them also some opportunities at the higest level rather than keeping faith in our out of form batters.

SpeakingCivilised,

I gotta agree with you.

Anyway you should also realize the fact that SL have won few test matches in New Zealand,England and West Indies in the recent past. Only series lost abroad was against Aussies and this current team captained by Jaya is capable of winning more series abroad in the future for sure.

I agree that unless Jaya could guide our team to few series victories abroad one can still reasonbly question his captaincy skills.

Bath, I regard Mahela J as a great captain. With a few wins abroad, he could be among the greatest.

I hope there is some compromises and SL Board drops ODIs to accomodate SL palyers to play some IPL games and just have two Tests in England with one warm up

That is the fate of Tests these days but something is better than nothing as I would pay to watch Murali Mendis v Pietersen!

Who gives a toss about the IPL.

IPL gives SL $0
England tour gives $2'000'000

Money matters as a IPL player would say.

Hmmmmm...IPL or full tour matches in England?

For me what matters the most always is to play for the country. I didn't even follow the matches in the IPL last time. However, I think our players should be allowed to grab this opportunity to make a good income as well. So whatever the decision they are gonna make I don't care as the both options make sense. Having said that I wish they will make a complete tour to England instead of a shortened one.

Jaywardene is a good captain but it always helps to be able to turn to Murali and now Mendis when he needs a wicket.
