What is happening to ladies tennis?

I feel compelled to start a discussion on this, just to get other people's point of view. Does anyone else look at ladies tennis now and cry for the glory days of graf, hingis, Seles, and on form Davenport. I mean, now that Henin has retired and Sharapova is sidelined it's pretty much the Williams show. I cant see any of these low grade eastern europeans winning. the only one i hold in any regard is Dementieva. i have no idea how Ivanovic and Jankovic are up at one and two in the world but it's bordering disgrace. They are terrible to watch. Where is all the talent?

Yes actually - good place, i noticed while i was there that they are doing a special on 'Rose tint removal' - you might want to check it out.

If you come on here debate slightly and then descend into personal digs, then you really don't belong on these boards. If you don't agree with my point come up with a counter point backed up with stats where possible, i would be happy to discuss them.

ERRRRRRRRRRR chazzfazzer, in what way is the fourth round of a grand slam enough to make anyone want to quit!!!! just because amelie has been further in competitions, all of a sudden she needs to leave the game... i think not.

OR, lets make EVERYONE who hasnt reached the quarter-finals of a grand slam this year retire, because they obviously arent playing well enough to maintain an interest in the game any more.

whatever.

No thanks, this site is choc-a-block with know-nothings who wish debate.
Been there, selling the tee-shirt dude.
I'd still get your eyes re-checked, just to be sure.

"They need to start making these woman earn their paychecks and play 5 setters"

several of the top players have said they are more than willing to play best of 5, but with the scheduling in grand slams, it would be impossible to fit it all in the 2 weeks, so this is not really an option, unless the length of a grand slam was incresed

I've been suggesting an improvised approch to the 5 set issue.

How about a best of 4 set match for women?

Winning scores are either 3-0, 3-1 or should the match reach 2-2, the game is decided with a champions tiebreak and won 3*-2

what do we think? should give chnace for some good comebacks, whilst keeping the match length relativelt short

glory days of who who and who? sorry but the only reason i read anything about tennis (ladies) is cos of the williams sisters. gotta admire how it seems theyve been here for decades, yet they take long breaks of when they feel like and still come back and absolutely destroy the competition. sharapova?? im sorry but i dont realy like watchin some screaming psycho play anything (yes - not even golf) i wonder if the williams sisters were the planachokovaskyski sisters - would people even bring this up??? they would love it so much
