Sunday's Premier League action

Premier League

Let's get busy. I had the day off yesterday and a terrific old time at the Challenge Cup final (that's the oval ball, rugby league version).

Went down to Wembley with the in-laws, who are very much of the Hull persuasion. I think it would be wrong of me to say that they had a perfect day, what with losing the final to St Helens and the Tigers taking a monster 5-0 stuffing at home to Wigan in the Premier League. I could almost hear the thud as they came back down to earth after a summer on cloud nine.

Today's order of business opens with what should be a heavyweight contest between Chelsea and Tottenham.

Now, Spurs might have beaten Chelsea in last season's Carling Cup final but the men from Stamford Bridge hold most of the historical aces. Chelsea have gained more wins (20), scored more goals (62) and accumulated more points (71) against Tottenham in the Premier League than any other club.

Sunderland then take on Man City. The Black Cats have brought in so many players I have to wonder whether Roy Keane has had time to complete the introductions, while I'm curious to know what Man City will turn up today?

And what a day for Gareth Barry! Aston Villa versus Liverpool. Will he have slightly mixed feelings as he walks onto the pitch? Very much a case of what might have been.

What do you reckon?

I am toying with the conclusion that perhaps I was wrong to say SWP was not good enough.

Perhaps he is just a bottler who couldn't handle life at Chelsea.

Wish him well for the future though.

what a majestic performance again by the gunners on saturday.

The team is ooozzzzzing with young talent and announced that there are exciting times ahead.

Well done Arsene, yet you have not only produced a team of great quality but once again RAISED THE BAR for other to "TRY" to jump, however I cannot see anyone reaching such class.

Apart from perhaps Fulham, as demonstrated the previous weekend. Very short memory you have.

Not as short as the amount of points Fulham will be out by come the end of the season or should it be "DOWN" by.

That's beside the point, you said no one can reach Arsenal's class yet Fulham beat them last week. It's one game, admittedly Arsenal were excellent and I'm not for a second pretending they weren't, but one game is just a tad premature to be making such bold statements.

In fact all such statements are premature, I wish we'd go back to the days when papers didn't print league tables until five games in and stupid ridiculous Sky Sports weren't suggesting that United's second game of the season was a 'must win'. They'll be telling us Chelsea are in crisis next because they only drew at home.

Couldn't agree more tagnuts. I remember those days. I think I actually heard Richard Keys use the phrase 'into the drop zone' over the weekend. I mean really, talk about over egging things.

p.s. Arsenal were a joy to watch on Saturday, but doing that hasn't been a problem for them. Having the squad for consistency has.

A bit late catching up on this one but I agree wholeheartedly about the stupid comments suggesting that our season was doomed because of the Fulham result and doomed even more because Newcastle were a weakened team and any non league club would have seen them off.
What a load of total crap some of these pundits and commentators talk, with their cheap little begrudged gratuitious remarks and knowledgable predictions.
They give the impression that they are sooooo neutral, that is a load of bollywox, have you heard Tyler and Gray when they are together, they litterally squeak with delight when anyone scores against us and when we do really well they start giving it large about historical events when we didnt do well. Andy Gray gurgles with delight at any goal against Arsenal and I am afraid Alan Smith must have attended the Andy Gray school of gurgling and passed with honours -shame about him, good ex-Arsenal boy but goes too far over the top trying to prove his neutrality especially when backing commentary on Arsenal.
Ive had my pennyworth now......Come on you Gunners!!!!!

Let me rephrase that for you: "Well actually since you ask, it's 'whether', not 'weather'. Names and sentences should begin with a capital letter, a bit of punctuation wouldn't go amiss.
