Scott Gammer

Commiserations to Scott Gammer, after a long lay-off he fought well last night using only his left hand for 8 rounds.

If he hadn't broken his right hand (presumably before the fight) he would be EU heavyweight champion now, the other guy could barely live with him one-handed.

As the commentator mentioned, how did he pass the pre-fight medical?

Also thought Valuev - Ruiz II was suprisingly entertaining!

Thought Gammer had retired - credit to him for proceding one-handed.

Taker - rhat's a nightmare, makes me glad I'm young free and ugly.

Watched the first three rounds before I had to go out.
Was he stopped then?

He was clearly only using the left but seemed to be in control for me unless his opponent finally worked out the attacks were only coming from one hand.

I found it pretty amazing that the Italian kept getting picked off by the left hook off the jab when it was clear that was Scott's only weapon.
Brave effort like you say though - pretty tough comeback assignment.

The Gamm should be entitled to rematch. He was easily the better boxer

His corner pulled him out before the start of the 9th, he lost control of the fight when the italian (finally) realised what was happening.

No point risking a ko or rsf loss on your record to such a poor opponent. Looked like the hand was becoming more painful by then too.

Hope he's not out of action too long and can get a rematch.

Hard luck on Gammer. He was doing fine even one handed. Not seen the WBA title fight yet. I sky+ it and the fight must of been later than advertised as my machine ran out of space. Doh!

I really enjoyed the Gmmer fight and would love to see a rematch.
The Chess like style made it very interesting.
I felt Gammer would have won fairly comfortable had he had the use of both hands.

entering a fight with a broken hand, not even stallone would consider that!

Gammer loses to Williams and McDermott yet manages to get a shot at the EU title before either of them.

Anyone able to explain that one to me?

Valuev/Ruiz was quite enjoyable in spurts. The ad breaks annoyed me to an almost unbearable degree though. Suffice it to say I won't be buying a KIA C'eed or logging on to Ladbrokes.Com. just out of sheer spite now!

Valuev/Wlad Klitschko would be a pretty dreadful fight in my opinion. Valuev's lack of power means there's always a chance for his opponents. It's only his sheer physical size that's keeping him in the mix. You need to be 6'6" to stand a chance of landing a punch. (Jameel McCline managed to get a few uppercuts in once he got inside Valuev's reach).

Wlad has power but, as I've said before, he seems scared to mix it up and hestitant about pulling the trigger.

I'd like to see how Valuev's chin holds up against the bigger punchers like Wlad, but you get the impression that, with that Neanderthal brow ridge on his noggin, anyone hitting him is likely to break their hands on his skull.

Still like to see the two of them fight but it wouldn't be one I'd stay up for.
