Hull City 0 - 5 Wigan Athleticby merchantman5 (U12640640) 30 August 2008
Well looks like we have come to earth will a BANG. I can not believe that we have allowed Wigan to beat us 5-0, We should of at the very least taken one point. City have obviously switched off. We missed Boateng and Gardner badly. We are also badly in need of a strike force. We have to switch on again quickly we should of been celebrating a win or at least a draw today. We got smashed. The only consulation is that it is early in the season and also Stoke got beat and West Brom drew but there has to be a drastic improvement if we are to stay up Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

originallambrettaman (U8617052) posted Aug 31, 2008 I'm not psychic, I can't tell you what would have happened with a full strength team, other than we would have played far better than we did yesterday(based on our opening two performances) and you almost certainly wouldn't have put 5 past us.

Andorra's centre forward (U8454648) posted Aug 31, 2008 Wigan fan here - have to admit from what i saw on MOTD Hull had plenty of play and plenty of the ball ( wonder what possesion stats were?) and a few chances of their own - however the difference was the mistakes they made - forgotten the players name but that dude who headed it back when Heskey ran on to it and finished it well, Ricketts slicing it into his own net and nobody defending when Valencia picked it up to finish off well - it's not the Wigan played particularly brilliantly or outclassed Hull it's mistakes of the above sort that I have just mentioned that were the big difference - Hope the tigers work on it and sort it out

treencrown (U12192805) posted Aug 31, 2008 Wigan were not at their best yesterday I will agree with that. Bruce was spot on when he said that it was the weaker of all our performances- against chelsea and apart from opening 10 mins at West Ham we looked brilliant.. but we lost. Ive said before there is no point keep playing brilliantly and geting nothing. Yesterday we played average and walked away with three points and 5 goals under our belt. I want us to emulate the performances from our first two games definately but after all our hard work from them matches (and not a bad performance yesterday albeit below par) we deserved that and we were worthy of our points

wiganeramc (U11116522) posted Aug 31, 2008 What happened yesterday has shown me how far Wigan have come, they did to Hull what established premiership teams have been doing to us in the past 3 years. Granted we haven't been defeated so heavily in the top flight, but how many times have teams played us and scored all their chances? we had 4 shots on target and won the game 5-0!

pie_eater_chief (U8130547) posted Aug 31, 2008 Wiganeramc - spot on , mate. It's converting the chances that make all the difference. And that's exactly what we did yesterday. I didn't get to the match as I've just got back from Wales - but when I heard of the result my shouts of celebration must've been echoing down those valleys enough to put harry secombe to shame!
