A decent point - and a fine save

Championship QPR
comment on the article
QPR boss Iain Dowie and Bristol City manager Gary Johnson

1-1 and a decent result for QPR given the second-half sending-off of Emmanuel Ledesma and the fact that they always looked vulnerable defensively.

Iain Dowie was right when he said afterwards that Ledesma needed to be more careful after picking up what seemed a very harsh first booking.

Radek Cerny had his best moment for the club so far when he produced a great save near the end to keep out Dele Adebola’s header.

Cerny spoke afterwards about the save and the lukewarm reception he’s had at Rangers because of Lee Camp’s popularity. More on that next week.

Do you think the save will help establish Cerny as the fans' choice?

It was certainly a good stop (although Camp has produced many similar and better saves for Rangers) and secured a deserved draw.

Dexter Blackstock’s goal put Rangers ahead but Adebola capitalised on yet more shoddy defending to equalise.

Ledesma’s dismissal for a second bookable offence made the second half difficult for Rangers, although City lacked a cutting edge.

There were several good performances for Rangers, with Blackstock scoring again and working tirelessly up front, Cerny’s save securing the point, Leigertwood covering loads of ground and Parejo rolling up his sleeves to good effect after the sending off.

Blackstock deserves a lot of credit for a really hardworking performance on such a hot day having felt unwell all week. He almost didn’t appear for the second half.

But my man of the match was Damien Delaney, who I thought played very well at left-back.

As always I’d be interested to read your views.

And I did laugh at City manager Gary Johnson’s response when he was asked if striker John Akinde’s presence in the stands wearing a City tracksuit means he has been signed from Ebbsfleet United.

“No, it means he’s nicked one of our tracksuits,” Johnson replied.

Glad we got a good game out of Delaney though.

Was worried we'd lost the player we had last season.

David, pleased to hear you say that. I'm personally in the Camp corner and think he's been dealt a bit of a raw deal since Cerny's arrival, especially to not have even featured for the Carlisle game. Cerny still flaps and punches a bit too much for my liking. I can only assume/hope that Dowie & Flowers have spotted things in training that the rest of us haven't. Today's game was tactically an improvement on Sheff Utd, so in the meantime I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. However someone really needs to take young Ledesma aside and explain the differences between the game over here compared to Serie A.

Sleeping again,Walk? Not really absolutely surprised and this is why so many letters are put through the wrong letterbox in your part of the Midlands : simply because of your absolutely hopeless powers of deduction. People love good weather,Walk, maybe with your indefatigable OPTIMISM you should move over to the meterological forecasting field?
Thats enough HoopsyHolmes...just got off coach...happy enough with point...even happier at prospect of Villa Park under floodlights...his ban will leave the incomparable EeeJay La-La champing at the bit for this one.

Just back from the game & finished my report for another site(!!)

Gotta say that I was mighty proud of our beloved team today - tho Ledesma walked straight into the trap set for him by the City players. He's got to learn to curb his theatrics & not get involved when there's no point - he's a marked man now, imo, particularly after Tuesday night & the subsequent adulation!

Cerny stood up well to everything sent his way & the defence were immense - Stewart's like a defender reborn!!

I really think we can build from this defensive display and from the team spirit and unity that the sending off inspired in us - funny as that sounds.

Onwards & upwards - U RRRRRRRRrrrssss biggrin

thought we earnt the point, blackstock ran his heart out for us! midfield were excellent at keep ball, and Dowie got it right when Ledesma saw Red, subbed cookie off and brought on Rowlands, nice to see Angyemang back as well, made a great run.
The save was excellent, Was in command of his box at all times, brilliant display!
We will beat em at w12, ill bet on that.
it was a Defensive display that fills me with confidence for the future!

Blackstock was superb up top on his own, won loads of headers, ran his heart out and scored as well. Great resilience in 2nd half, keeping them to one real chance which drew that amazing save. More away performances like that combined with our good home form should see us do pretty well.

Bloody Hell Dave...Seems to me that you're doing your best at giving Cerny as lukewarm a reception as some so called fans..
Are you Lee Camp's agent on the side..?
