I thought the title of your article was the beginning of a joke...

Alan Smith and Joey Barton walk into a bar...

I agree like, we could have easily just got rid of the two (smith and barton) and gave milner an improved contract with the salary of them.

smith will leave anyway. As for Milner, 11 goals in 136 games says it all. A relentless trier, which is why we lkoved him, but his quality wasn't good enough. That's why Ramage went. KK will bring in better. Saviola will be a NUFC player by Monday. Keep the faith. As for Barton, if he remains a NUFC player I for one will give him a go. He was one of the main reasons we stayed up last season.

It's not the right time to do business with those two at the moment, they wouldn't fetch very much!! He'll get them playing better before he sells them on!!!

no, you've got mental diseases for thinking that milner is better than barton. milner is possibly one of the most overrated players at our club and £12m is an absolute joke. I'd rather take that and have Smith and Barton anyday.

He hasn't sold Smith and Barton because no-one has made an offer. No-one wants to take them on. He sold Milner because he was offered 12m, which is unbelievable.

I prefer Barton over Milner (as a football player on the pitch)
I think he gives alot more in that 90 minutes than Milner does so i am glad we didnt sell Barton.
He has done his time and so long as he plays in a black and white shirt and Keegan is happy with him i am fully behind Barton

Simply, Milner was sold away from the club despite Keegan wishing to keep him. His quote just about made that clear for those who are able to read between the lines.

I have additionally posted the link to comments in the press that Keegan supported Milner's offer but it was Wise who wanted to sell him.

Quite clearly no-one has come in with an offer for Smith or Barton. This is why they weren't sold. One just can't sell any players, or any commidity, if there's no market for them.

So, to answer the original posters ridiculous questions do understand a little how markets work and how boardrooms and managers function, co-ordinate and publicly report.

Real life, especially when power and politics are involved, are not quite what is printed within the gutter press.

Our team is too small to sell players, simple as that. Our squad was tiny last season, smaller now, and we've just lost a player who gave his all to our team.

Anyone who thinks Milner didn't deserve a better contract should answer this question: are you happy we paid Barton thousands of pounds while he stood behind bars - while Milner worked his socks off on the pitch?
