Liverpool Football Club have today confirmed that the building of their new stadium will be subject to delay.
A spokesman for the club said: "Our commitment to building a new world class LFC stadium is undiminished. Like many other major development projects in the UK and overseas we are affected by global market conditions and as such work on the project will be delayed in the short term. We will use this period productively and revisit the plans for the stadium to increase its capacity to 73,000 seats."

fair points but you need both.

we can't just keep investing in players without the ground revenue to support it. It'd only be a matter of time before we'd be in financial trouble again.

haha love it.the stadium as it was looked terrible.hope it does increase from 60k to 73k tho.the waiting list for season tickets is ridiculus.ive been on it for 3 years and heard i could be for another 10.also 73k liverpool fans would be so much more influental and helpful to the team.can you imagine that amount at any european game?the stadium would be rocking

Same old, same old, when are the american owners going to realise that they havent got enought money to run liverpool, i mean no money for players, we have to sell first and now no money for a stadium, i mean its time they sell up and let liverpool carry on the way liverpool should

The club needs a new stadium, simple. I have to watch Liverpool at away grounds such as St James Park, because I simply cannot get a ticket for Anfield. The financial reward for the club is massive so the argument of building a new stadium is silly. The club needs it. End of story.

On the topic of the American owners, I was all for giving them a chance if they could supply Liverpool FC with a new stadium that was promised. But the whole thing has been a mess from the start and the club needs a clean break and a new owner. May that be a individual or a consortium.

A new owner and a new stadium please!

they cant afford a 60000 stadium 73000! no way, they think that comment will dupe the liverpool fans into thinking they are going to build a 73000 stadium. they are insulting the fans intelligence. hey everythings going to be alright now, they are going to build a 73000 stadium.

When are these two American jokers going to sell up and sod off ?????

Do you think if Dubai Int owned the club they would openly question the managers transfer targets or delay building the new stadium ( probably the single most important issue at the moment) don't think so.

Stadiums take years to build, we are losing ground every minute of every day it's not started.

These Americans are putting this great club further and further behind with each passing day they have control. It's obvious they don't have the cash, people don't want them there, they are just typical stubborn Yanks who don't know what they have or what they are doing.

Very very unhappy with this news.

Liverpool have only been granted planning permission for a 60,000 seater stadium - no more. This is all that will be built if it finally gets off the ground. 60,000 IS THE LIMIT any more than that then Liverpool will have to invest heavily in building a supporting infrastructure around the area (transport, access, links etc..) then submit proposals on this basis and then hope they receive planning permission. So as far as anything above 60,000 goes - it is practically a dead duck. Arsenal had the same problems - hence why they only built a 60,000 stadium. The cost and time alone would be prohibitive given the current climate and the financial constraints of the current owners it won't happen.

Its about time the yanks got out of Liverpool for good and stop the rot setting in. Before its to late to save this fantastic club.
I am convinced that Parry should also go and let the right people take charge weather it might be the Supporters or Sheikh Mohammed.
