Should Pompey sign Motta?

Portsmouth

Portsmouth are hoping to sign Brazilian Thiago Motta from Atletico Madrid but manager Harry Redknapp is not optimistic the deal will go through.

Motta, 26 on Wednesday, has been training with Pompey and it is understand that his Spanish club would be willing to release him.

"I liked him," said Redknapp. "I think chief executive Peter Storrie has made him a short-term contract offer.

"If you ask me, though, I do get the feeling it is not going to happen."

Would Motta be a good signing for Pompey?

He be allright we need to see him more during the 1st 20 mins of matches and pace for the uefa cup.
Man City lacked that and thats why they struggled to score.

is he a creative player (a bit like Mendes) or a strong battler (like Diop/Davis)

from what 'arry said he's creative, bit like mendes, but from other people i've heard he's big and strong, but he looks more skillfull than big and strong, but we might get the chance to find out =]

Have heard he was big & strong listening to Guillem Balague, Sky`s Spanish football expert, but as you say, & Guillem says, he is creative also, which to me is important for the team after Pedro`s unexpected exit to Rangers..Just hope he stays fit if we can strike a deal with the player, but he can be a major asset to us..Guillem Balague describes the player himself on his own website, guillembalague.com..

yes, he would be a great addition to the squad if he keeps injury free.

he'd be brilliant in the premier league
I liked Motta when watching him at barca and saw that he has the aggression and bite needed for a central midfielder playing in england
i'm sure he'd do portsmouth good with the loss of muntari and mendes

Doubt that we'll get him. Seems like a good player but if he's injured every week then whats the point in paying his wages which are obviously high. Maybe a pay as you play deal?

Hes the strength we need in the middle that we lost when we sold Muntari, and i dont think Thomas has that stregnth or abilty. He'd be an awsome signing but a total waste if his knee plays up.

i think that he would preserve our midfield like they were last season and now that weve lost muntari and mendes and kranjcar out injured we need someone of his quality to help us do well in the league and help us get far in the uefa cup.
