I am finding it hard to think of words to describe how much some people get carried away sometimes, a no hassle performance tonight where we was cruising all night long. Yet these are the same people who will think were going to get 4th easy as soon as we notch up a win or two.

yes it was a below par performance, but lets not forget that it was a very weakened team and the only objective was to get through to the next round. Maybe we should have been provided with a more entertaining display at home but we have to look to the fact we are through to the next round and the majority of our first team will be fresh and injury free for sunday.

Overall conclusion - Job done!

I'm not sure they are the same people No 1!
Even in my wildest dreams I coudln't see us coming 4th. Fact is we came 6th last season and even though I fond it hard to see how; it is a fact. I'd settle for 6th again. MON seems to have a knack of getting results, tonight was dire though whichever way you look at it

I think we deserved 6th last season, IMO i think we were better than the others battling for that position, With additions this season im hoping we can stay around 6th/5th place and maybe have a go at winning a cup.

it was about the result - making it to the 1st round proper, simple as that. we never looked like losing. Barry played out of position don;t know why but he won't be left back vs Liverpoo.I think the players just couldnt get the tempo as they were so far ahead from the first leg.

But Harewood should be sold.He was poor against part-timers, no disrespect but if youre up against a dentist, accountants, lawyers and a carpenter (not Karen) and you cant raise your game, then Villa aint the place for ya.

So last night Liverpoo were 2 mins away from euro exit and earlier man city were seconds away from an exit - 2 very lucky teams.I will take the scousers to luck their way to the final and man city to the quarters.Just watch them go !!!

Our first team ought to do better if it can stop leaking goals. Friedel was worrying again. We don't have enough options in our second string, just hope the youngsters can work miracles when called for and when under pressure.

lets not get carried away with this poor performance.

I actually was pleased with the first half.
Gardner was everywhere!
Salafou was good too.

The only down sides were Aggy was very poor looked his `old` self, lazy, can`t be bothered mood!
And some of the others did`nt look hungray enough.
And i`ve been saying it for ages- Harewood has got to go! He is a waste of space, simple as that!

Now, don`t forget, this was an experimental/reserve team.

if we was only 2-1 up from the first leg, we would have fielded a differant team, and we would have played way better.

It was nice to see more of routledge and fonz, also thought salafou played well.

Let me get this straight... we annihalated them in the first leg 4-1 away, making the 2nd leg pretty much redundant.

Our players therefore put in the minimum effort required to ensure we still win (OK, minimum would be to let them score 2 and us not score, but that's a technicality) and to make sure the maximum of our players are injury-free and fit for an important match on Sunday, and you're STILL not happy?

What would you have preferred? Half our guys run themselves silly for no good reason and pick up injuries so we have a weakened squad for Liverpool?

Stop being so negative - all the top clubs grind out some results against lesser opposition; what matters is if they can pull out some magic when it is important against big teams (like vs Chelsea, Arsenal and nearly Liverpool last season)

And I'd rather tonight's performance where it was done and dusted last week and was just a formality, rather than Man C/Liverpool's approach.

So stop moaning, we're in Europe!

I was bitterly disappointed regardless of whether it was a reserve team or not. The facts are we had 11 full-time professionals out there against a bunch of part-timers at home in front of 25,000 fans. If these are the guys pushing the first team for positions then they can rest easy. I'd have worked my proverbials off trying to make an impression not only to the manager but 25,000 fans!!! Very disappointing.
