Slip,

Yeah I think Vassy is less effective if the condition doesn't suit the swing bowling. I also think it is much better for our cricket if aging Murali retires from playing in shorter versions of cricket.

By the way slip it's nice to see you here on 606.

Vaas Express??

He is a swing bowler

There is a Pkistani joke

Both Shoiab and Arafat hail from Rawalpindi but there fast bowling is sepoerated in speed by nearly 25 kph!

Shoaib is called The Rawalpindi Express and cruelly Araafat is called the Rawalpindi Mail! smiley

Bath, It is nice to see you here. hug

medium-pacer, True Vaas is not express pace anymore but he is very effective bowler and is still the leading lankan pace bowler. We can call Malinga as genuine express bowler. The Slinga Malinga Express!

slip

as I see it SL have a very difficult call

A fresh quick attack of

Fernando
Prasad
Kulasekhara
Mirando

looks much more likely to give openings and let M&M destroy line ups

But Vaas is a great stock bowler and can whittle out wickets based on his experience

Mahroof is accurate but is still not that experienced in Tests and batting wise Vass may still out bat Mahroof

I feel Vaas should stop playing ODI s and concentrate only on Tests for a year or so to transition the youngsters to form a pace pack for the future

MP,

I agree with most of the facts in your above post.

Kulasekara is not a quick bowler, but a very accurate pacer for sure.So he may deserve a place in our one day team even when all the players are fit.

Vass has improved his batting quite a lot. He is a much better batsman against pace bolwers, but I still think he is still the same Vass against a quality spin bolwer. I agree that Vassy is still out bat Maharoof.

Hi Bath Maruwa

I really do hope Murali and Mendis opt to tour Eng and play 2 Tests

I would very keenly like to see how England handle them, we will know a little bit when they play India at home this winter

MP,

Yeah it could be very interesting as to how even Aussie batters would be facing Mendis & Murali as slow bowlers in tandem can be a deadly weapon for them. It's true that Murali's performances against Australia especially in Australia had so far been not that great. I think it's coz of the fact that he has not been able to overcome the mental side of the game when playing in Australia and now with Mendis in our team he could perhaps do it much better coz one of them will break stubborn partnerships by Aussies, but unfortunately by the time when we play Australia next Murali may have retired from cricket. sadface

England over the years has struggled against quality spin bowlers. Warne had been very lucky to have played more matches against them. Even Bangladesh has performed better against great Shane Warne in the two test matches that they had played on spin friendly tracks in Bangladesh .It’s amazing to note how successfully India could cope with the brilliance of great Warne. These are his stats.

vs Bangladesh 2006-2006 2 4 87.2 12 300 11 5/113 8/160 27.27 3.43 47.6 1 0

The other thing that might worry England is if on SL tour England M&M bowl in tandem, it may also expose the quality and depth of Panesar apart from Eng batsmen laugh
