Drk Kuyt- Your True Value to Liverpool

Champions League Liverpool

Well Im not one of Kuyt's greatest fans particularly when he plays wide, but I'd just like to say.

Dirk Kuyt, thank you very much for scoring the winning goal tonight and for getting us some money in the bank.

But we were so so lucky, Liege were by far the better team.
However we kept going to the end yet again.

Rafa I love you and will not turn on you but sort it out please.

Frankly, every negative comment about Kuyt is justified, save one. He has the heart of a lion and never stops running. Fortunately, his last run put him in a position where the ball could bounce off him for the winner. Well done Dirk. A far more positive contribution than the rest of the team (possibly excluding Carragher?) managed.

Agree with SalohcinC about Kuyt. Every negative comment is justified though he never stops running. Still hoping we can sell him to Leyton Orient which is where he belongs (no offence to Leyton Orient).

Yeah we were unbelievably lucky in both legs of this tie. Could, and probably should, have been 2-0 down from the 1st Leg and last night could have easily conceded another 2 or 3 within the initial 90 minutes. Concerning stuff for us as fans and Rafa needs to sort it out.

For a kick off, we have no wingers. Kuyt I have a lot of respect for and he puts 110% in every game he plays, even though last night he had a terrible game before scoring the winner. But he is not an out-and-out winger and neither is Benayoun, who was anonymous on the left. Babel can do a job there and he put a fantastic ball across for the goal, but that is all he did do when he came on. Apart from that he has pretty poor too.

I just hope whoever we sign has got it in them to provide the natural width we need to progress. I was impressed with young El-Zhar when he came on, played well on the right flank, caused Liege a few problems and should have had a penalty.

Maybe it's a case of bringing in a left winger (Riera and Downing have been the two main targets) and putting Babel onto his favoured right side. Playing Babel on the left just means he comes in-field far too much and we lose our shape and become far too narrow again. The same goes with Kuyt playing on the right.

Pepe Reina deserves a pay rise with that money we earned from last night's game because if it weren't for him, we'd have been out. Rafa needs to get his thinking head on now and the owners need to get out their cheque books.

It's all so short-term because of the vast amounts of cash. Surely a better long-term model is to develop a young, English (or better still scouse)-based squad who will play with pride and passion, peppering that with a couple of exceptional foreign players. They might hit 6th/7th or even lower for a couple of seasons, but it would come....
Howver, with all of this CL cash, one season out of the "top 4" and your finances are nowhere compared to the big guys and you can forget about any success ever agian.
Roman and his millions ruined the PL and I curse the day he darkened our doors.

He deserves a lot more plaudits than he gets. MOTD commentators like to highlight when he comes and doesnt get or grab the ball from mid-air but when other keepers (not mentioning) do it, it's 'a misjudgement'.

i think your comment sums up the current problems at the club perfectly. Shame Rafa doesn't listen to anyone that tells him the problems week in and week out. We haven't had decent wingers for about 10 years now. In fact, since McManaman left i can't remember anyone dribbling down the wing effectively and putting in a cross - and even he wasn't an amazing corsser of the ball. We need a Downing type player - gets to the wing, does one or two players and puts in a good, acurate, fast cross that just needs guiding home. Imagine how many goals Torres and Keane would score off of them. Though they'd need to adjust their games, as they're so used to a lack of service they come too deep at the minute.
