West Ham 4 Macclesfield 1

comment on the article

Well, clearly not a great first half, but in the end the right result for the Irons.

Good to see Cole, Hines and Reid all open their account. Bowyer should have done enough to earn a place for Saturday.

Of ocurse, it's easy to say we should have done better earlier in the game. but we aren't the only Prem team to struggle in this round.

This game will have done nothing to satisfy atni-Curbs fans, but then, 5-0 in the first half wouldn't have done that either.

I just hope those who can get to the game on Saturday show their support for West ham, and not their hatred of Ince.

COYI!

If we drop into the relegation spots for any time between now and November then I think the board will act other than that I believe they will stay true to their word and stick with Curbs. However, unless we start playing more positive football another mediocre season will spell the end for Curbishley tenure.

Grey: I am not after and 'Instant' solution, all I want to know is that they know what the problems are, know what to do about it and are actually doing something, not just papering over the cracks.

If they have a solution then tell us what it is - not just the wait and see effort we are getting currently. If they are intent on waiting until all the injured players are fit (if we ever manage it), why not take 3 or 4 better quality players ( well better than those we have available at the moment) on loan for 6 months from other clubs to bolster the team?

If used effectivelly to support the team weak spots, it could help us get the points we need by Christmas and give the injured players more time to recover, without rushing them back and getting a recurrance or another injury due to lack of fitness.

We could then look to buy players in the next transfer window, we would be a much more attractive proposition if we were mid-table and looking comfortable rather than in the bottom six.

In a way I am trying to be optimistic by putting forward a solution for the current situation (that's of course not knowing the full story on what is actually going on or what the problems are). It seems this is a logical step to me, bring in the players on loan, take the pressure off the players that are fit enough to play, give those that are not time enough to get fit and recover from injuries. If we play better and get points all well and good, as long as the reasons are given to the fans for doing this providing we do not play any worse (which is not very likely) fans like me will get behind the team as it is a positive step to sort things out.

Glad I wasn't the only one to spot the BBC's wonderful reporting. That said, on Sky (Andy Gray comes up trumps again) at the weekend, we appeared to have signed a new player by the name of Davidson. Unfortunately it turned out to be Davenport all along.

Yes - all the cup ties are tricky at this stage so I don't think last night told us much, and let's remember that the actual 4-1 result is not completely irrelevant - even if it might have been a bit unfair. It still looks good for those who didn't see the game.

I agree that the Blackburn game is a better test. We mostly tend to beat them (while playing badly) - and they were in some ways the turnaround team in our nightmare sequence ending back in Spring 2007 (remember the Tevez back-to-goal ankle-twirl incident?). I am still worried that too many of our players already look terrible this season - and the captain heads this list by an eight-minute mile. I hope Curbs now drops a few players who are clearly unfit and have started to think that they are fixtures. The unfortunate left back for Standard Liege last night just before Kuyt poked in the ball behind him looked a lot like TL does practically every week, quite frankly.

I am official embarrassed to be a west ham fan

lordhammers1987 – no room on here for that kind of talk mate. Just take the undeserved wins when they come, and breathe a sigh of relief. Yes we’re poor at the moment and we could be staring down the barrel of a long, hard season. But don’t say you’re embarrassed to be an Irons fan. That’s the kind of thing the Sp*rs idiots say. Chin up and take a leaf out of stranraer1’s book – he/she’s got the right idea!

Is sacking AC really going to cure the issues....really????? I think we have to show some patience here....we avoided the drop and then the next season we finished in a reasonable position given that half the time we had second string players out there...what do you really expect ....CL footy!?!?! Be realistic and give things a chance... AC is not doing a bad job if you really look at it objectively....it does not that the board seem to be not fully supporting him.
Booing the team and AC does not help in anyway and if you think it does then you are wrong....being a fan means showing SUPPORT thro ups and downs - not throwing your teddies around when it goes wrong (just like Spurs players!) ...and yes i am a WHU fan.

Nar1403 we the hammers fans are disappointed at the fact that players who could play football have been allowed to leave and the hopeless crap that should have gone have not and not a single better player has been brought in. This has left us lookin very poor we have not played well for 90 mins in any game of first three games. this is down to mangement and the board who made out they was gonna get us into Europe but how can they do this unless we spend on bringing in International class players we would of been better selling to KIA we may still had Tevez and Benayoun and maybe a few other star players. we look like s joke that's worst then tottenham ok almost

I think West Ham were poor in the first half- it seemed to me that they lost confidence when they conceded early on. During extra time we tore Maccelsefield appart and showed why we are in The Premiership and they are all the way down in League 2.

sukihammer.....I am not doubting that and i am as frustrated as everybody else. My point is that booing does nothing to help the situation and if anything compounds it. Booing has never made a team any better in the past so why should it start now. I am not sure AC has as much control as we would like....
dont take my comments wrongly, i hate seeing what has happened following so much promise but hey, life goes on and there is much worse to get agitated about. I would like all to get behind the team...and then if nothing improves then we can all moan. I have to say the WH fans at M. City were fab.....

I agree that booing does not help anyone we should support the team and manager and show the younger supporters the right way to stay behind our club.
That said we are not playing well at the moment and we do not look like we are playing as a team. Surely the board has got to give curbs time. Is it all his fault??
Why is it also that we seem to suffer more than most from injuries. We seem to loose a player a game. Also why is it that we sell our young up and coming players how long before we sell noble and sears. The board must hear the fans and listern to our comments we have the ability to be a good club but the manager must be left alone to run it, did the board interfere as much when Mr Brooking was in charge.
