Bowlers+Dhoni&Raina set up series win!

After losing the 1st ODI badly, India looked down and out but came back strongly through some very good bowling performances to seal their first bilateral ODI series win on Sri-Lankan soil.

Zaheer, Munaf and P Kumar made most of the conditions on offer both at Dumbulla and Colombo and are IMO the outstanding performers for India. Well done to the pace trio.

Dhoni has done his bit and more with two back to back captains' Knocks under pressure in the middle order. He has handled Mendis and Murali with ease and the figures of the two spinners in the last two games are pretty average. Dhoni's method of playing only with his bat and keeping his pad outside the line of the ball to avoid being LBW should be copied by the rest of the Indian batsmen.

Raina gave Dhoni plenty of support in both games and he too has handled the Lankan spin duo with aplomb. He deserves plenty of praise for his determined back to back half centuries.

This series win is certainly a big positive for India as it enables them to face Lanka with renewed confidence in future tournaments after the horrors of the Asia cup final.

While players like Yuvraj will forever remain useless against spin, the number of Indian batsmen who can deal with M&M is slowly but surely growing. Currently it is Gambhir, Sehwag, Dhoni, Raina, Sachin (if and when he is back).

From now on, simply showing up won't get M&M wickets and they have to bowl well to beat India.

Congratulations India on managing to salvage some respect from humiliation after humiliation since the Asia cup defeat. The tour of Sri Lanka has revealed not a great Indian side but one that desperately struggled. It will be interesting to see where India go on from here. SL also in an interesting position. They have the potential to be the best, but lack the killer instinct that Australia seem to have

Yes India deserve big respect for her U-Turn after Asia cup disaster thanks to Jayasuriya & Mendis.

It is a fact SL wins ODI every time when Jayasuriya hits, other set of big talking captain & recognised batsmen have proved they are a bunch of lucky passengers/jokers with hanky panky life styles mocking SL sacred culture.

SL fortunate to have a classy (youngsters) bowling attack for next 5 years with Mendis, Tushara where she can challange any side.

But is there a formiddable opening batsmen pair, middle order batting? up to any standard?

Time for SL board/Arjuna to think seriouly & repair.

If not send Jayasuriya with a keeper & 9 (nine) good bowlers as nowdays SL bowlers have to do batting too, better than bowling, for the salvation of Sri Lankan inning.

Even in test matches Mendis less SL was pathetic. MendiK have just one more series left in his career as every bastman will know his technique by then and he will become favourite BUNNY of bastmen. Murali and Vaas already very ineffective. I would like to see SL beat even a street team then. Don't expect jayasuria's baseball swing will always work! His hit or miss technique already worked long enough which he learned from ex-Indian opener Srikant.

On the contrary, India beat SL without two of the best bastmen of one day matches Sehwag and Sachin. (Yes, Sachin is still one of the best. People can argue about it as much as they want).

Indian dream team for one day international is:
1)Sehwag 2)Gambir 3)Yuvraj 4)Sachin 5)Dhoni 6)Raina 7)Kohli 8)Harbhajan 9)Zaheer 10)Ishant 11)Patel

Sehwag, Sachin, Yuvraj, Kohli and Raina can act as fifth bowler.

I think India should only play countries like Australia, SA and England so that we can possibly see some contestsmiley
