England proving me right at last

England

comment on the article

Back in June I stated that SA had absolutely no chance of beating England and after 3 days at Lords that looked a good prediction.

But SA did what is hardly ever done in modern cricket and batted out 2 days for the draw. Poor show from the England bowlers and fielders.
SA somehow took heart from that and easily won the 2nd test though Broad exposed the SA bowlers in the 2nd innings.

Third test was there to be won but that clown KP threw his wicket away and with it the match and the series when he could have set SA an impossible target by batting not much more than another 20 minutes.
Could and should have been 2-1 to England.

Then SA showed their true colours when playing better teams away from home and got hammered at the Oval.

Now England have stuffed SA in the first 2 ODIs and will go on to whitewash SA without even getting into 2nd gear.

England are and have always been a better test team than SA and are now a far superior ODI team too.

England will comfortably regain the Ashes against an ageing and declining Australia. Though Australia will still be far too strong for the overrated and overhyped SA.

Really need to see SA step up 3 or 4 gears otherwise not going to be able to tell if we're progressing - one of the poorest efforts from an international team (other than England) that I've seen for years.

rofl Typical Delusional Brit. A few good games and all of the sudden, you are them best team in the world. There's only one clown around here and I'll give you a clue: (wisper) "It's not KP"

South Africa - this is a very weired situation with them.
They just collapsed on what appeared to be a decent pitch. It was a catastrophic performance and they really only have themselves to blame for their dismal downfall BUT i feel England are now playing against a wounded animal and we have to warn against complacency and not get to cocky.
We've played 2, won 2 and you never know, we may just suddenly collapse and lose the next 2 and have a confidence crisis although i obviously wish that this doesn't happen.

Just putting across a possible opinion...

I can only presume that 'The-wire' is trying to wind up the South Africans?

I'm a barking mad Englishman and i'll support England regardless but all said even i'm not that nieve.

Really i think we jumped on a lethargic SA and totally out played them. I was however supprised that they didn't manage any kind of fight but saying that i'm sure the SA will up there game and make the next ODI a lot closer.

It's a given that the team a captain oversees will always takes on some of there personality but its good to see that KP's confidence is rubbing off on the rest of our cricketers. Who knows, maybe in a few years we might get to watch a generation of cricketers with a little more self belief and less English reserve? Now that would be good! After all, we all play to win and not to make friends.

Matt..

um.... OK... two very good wins but I would be amazed if SA don't win at least one of the remaining games

I do not agree that England will comfortably regain the Ashes! In fact, they would be lucky to win a single Test! You can never underestimate the Aussies, even with the recent retirements of so many greats.

I think you are getting a bit carried away by the way the South Africans have been rolled by England thus far in these ODIs!

I would be surpised if the remaining ODIs are not much closer and if SA does not win at least one of them.
