I believe he caught them all didn't he?

He didn't have one official drop in the match batting.

He knocked them off didn't he?

Some people are too negative.

'When he's kept in tests, he's been decidely average and despite a promising beginning with the bat, that quickly went downhill'

What a silly ill-conceived comment.

Vs Murali in Sri Lanka: 0, 63, 79, 4, 19* from 100 balls.

Hardly bad. Third best average for England at 41.25. Scored as many runs as Colli and more than KP.

The guy had a very good game, yes it is only one, but come on, if you are going to criticise him and not praise him for that performance then you are living in cuckoo land. It isn't going to get better than that. Now let's build the guys confidence rather than do the old favourite and criticise, criticise, criticise, ramp up the pressure and get someone else in from off the merry-go-round.

Well done Matt Prior, keep it up!

Prior has seized the moment pretty well in the first couple of one dayers - 45 and 42 n/o for a handy 87 average with the bat, eight catches and a stumping in the field. It's not as though Tim Ambrose is irreplaceable in the Test squad, and although Prior didn't make the most of his chances previosuly, I'd say he's worth another try in both forms of the game.

The coaches just need to work on stopping him poaching catches from the slips, because that sort of excellence really needs to be discouraged, this being English sport and all.

Well I agree that Broad gave apt reply to his critics but Prior? I don't know if his perfomance is upto the expectations that we expect from him.. We can expect more from him!

I like Prior, but am in favour of different wicket keepers for test and ODIs.
He is ideal for ODIs.
But let's have the best wicket-keeper for tests.

well done mat prior, the catch off smith was awesome. If he carries on keeping like that he should definetly be the keeper for the tests. Im an ambrose fan and could see he was out of his depth against good quality bowling, whereas prior is a class batsmen and hopefully an improving keeper. My opinion is that he shouldn't have been dropped in the first place. Now if were gonna play with freddie at six it is imperative that prior plays so we bat well all the way down to 8 with hamry at 9. The future is looking good, but im sure in the usual fashion with this england team they will lose the three other odi's.

----------

KP did get a couple of shocking decisions in SL, especially that tumbling "catch"

wasnt that catch of smith going to slip anyway!

should he have even been going for it?

anyway i think he did well and couldnt have done any better but lets get real- 5 dollies(that no one should drop), and a no45(good but somewhat lucky and under no pressure what so ever)

he retains his spot , with my backing , but certainly not a cast iron pick for the future.

biggest pluses were of course broad, harmy,ff and the captain!

our problem has been our attack- now its potentially one of the best in world cricket- and two are all rounders .

i jones comes in the mix we are gonna have a massive positive problem.

Good on you Prior. Been listening to advice from one of England's best ever in Alec Stewart and starting to show what he can do. As for Stuart Broad I liked him from his first ball in Test cricket when he went down the wicket to glower at his opponent - great sparky attitude.
