Well like we all expected. FIA have decided to give Massa only a 10,000 Euro fine and a reprimand.

What a joke!

"I like the way Massa tried to blame Sutil saying he should have slowed down."

What lap was Sutil on?

As he started in the pit lane and Massa was leading, I'm betting he was a lap down.

So ... Massa may have been right!

His team were at fault for releasing him too soon. But once he's on the track, any driver being lapped has an obligation to give way.

And the pit-lane is classified as part of the track, albeit with a speed limit.

The only way Sutil could have slowed down would be by using Massa's Ferrari as a brake, or by running over a few Ferrari mechanics. Massa came out parallel to Sutil. At that point neither driver could have given way as there was nowhere to go. It wasn't Massa's fault, but the team should not have let it happen - it was dangerous and unnecessary, and they would have been warned about it prior to the race.

>"No offence but you seem to know as much about motorsport as my mum (not just you the whole forum from what I'm reading)."

Then go and post somewhere where lying, changing your story and then insulting people who know more than you'll ever understand about F1 is respected. nahnah

This is further proof that there is a rule book for Ferrari and a separate rule book for everyone else!... If it would have been any other team, they would have made the decision right then and there to have them do a drive through penalty. But not for Ferrari!

I don't know why I bother but I have been reading some of the post on here and one thing is crystal FERRARI ARE AS GUILTY AS SIN..Not because the Stewards said so but because as soon as Ferrari are guilty of even spitting on the sidewalk the Tiffosi start trotting out the Old "Mclaren stole Ferrari stuff" chestnut yadadayada...Has anyone but me notice that we are 2 3rds of the way through 2008 season. What happen last year, right or wrong, good or bad, innocent or guilty...........is H I S T O R Y and nothing that can happen now will change that. Make no mistake Massa was guilty as sin but he ran a great race and DESERVES TO WIN THE RACE HANDS DOWN.... However rules is rules is rules. Its also fair to say that had the same thing happen to any other team (Especially big Mac) then we all know what the outcome would have been

So in case any one had any doubt this the FIA Rule again
article 23.1 (i) of the Sporting Regulations: “It is the responsibility of the competitor to release his car after a pit stop only when it is safe to do so.”

As some people have mentioned the Pitlane is part of the race track but it also has a speed limit and a ban on overtaken even if the car in front is a "Back-Marker" Ferrari got their usual Favouritism from the FIA. No One wants to see the race won in the office but a 5 place grid penalty for the next race is the very least they should have gotten. Why wait till after the race to assess the penalty. By thier own rules THe stewards should only do that with 5 or less laps remain and there was at least 15 Laps left.Ferrari got away with one !!! thats an absolute Certainty. Even ferrari fans must be embarased at the result of the stewards enquiry. Everyone knows no visiting team ever gets a penalty at Man united and simarly Ferrari get away with everything. NUFF SAID!!!!!

F1 rules state that you are not allowed to overtake other cars going down the pit lane, therefore it is a illegal move, massa should of braked and formed up behind the other car until he had exited the pits, but his own actions he was causing a dangerous situation and therefore should of had a stop & go penalty.

Why is it that if rules are rules, Ferrari ALWAYS get to bend them?!

I'm sure that if it had been anyone else they would have been pulled back into the pits for a drive through. A certain TV pundit at the time felt thats what should happen, and very quickly quoted the rule book. Why did he bother if the rules weren't enforced.
