Jamaican sprint dominanceOlympics by shivfan (U2435266) 24 August 2008 This has been a great performance by the Jamaicans in the sprint events at the Beijing Olympics. It was the Usain Bolt show, with him securing the 100 metres and 200 metres titles with world records. Then, combined with former record-holder Asafa Powell, and other top speedsters in Michael Frater and Nesta Carter, they obliterated the sprint relay record! alanskillcole (U9556695) posted Sep 22, 2008 Looking at Bolt's progressions, I think it is interesting to see how rapidly his times were falling during his teenage years - a 21.81 at age 15 became a 19.93 at the age of 18. That certainly does predict some impressive times later in his career. An 18-year old who runs 19.90 is quite conceivably a 22 year old running sub-19.5 seconds...could he have been on drugs at that age already? Even the hardest sceptic would not think it likely.

Previously, he received instructions from 1964 Olympian Pablo McNeil and Dwayne Barrett at William Knibb high school and from experienced Fitz Coleman during 2004, when the world junior record was set.

therealdon99 (U8086838) posted Sep 23, 2008 Personally speaking i dont think there is anything wrong with what carl lewis said. Im sure there were millions of people saying the same thing when they saw the 100metre final on TV. Im sure 100% of the people on this forum questioned his gold medal in their heart of hearts. But at the same time i dont think BOLT is on drugs. I think he is a clean athelte. I also say CARL LEWIS himself has been clean all his life. If you look at drug cheats, their build is like heavyweight boxers, Carl Lewis has had almost the same body since his teens. Thats the reason why i say BOLT is clean as well. They dont look like they are on drugs...

To take so much time off world records will always raise eyebrows in this day and age. But for Carl Lewis to be the one to voice them positively reeks of hypocrisy and for him to hold up the US as a bastion of drug testing is staggering.
