Sympathy for Spurs fans

Premier League Tottenham Hotspur
comment on the article

Mackem in peace

I'd like to say after watching the match today on the internet, I'm very pleased for my team. The money has been spent wisely and to beat a good team such as Tottenham away, is very pleasing.

However, I'd like to say on watching Spurs for the second time this season (i also saw your game with Boro), I feel sorry for you as fans. You pay your hard earned money into a club, and although you've spent more than anyone else this year, in reality not a penny has left Daniel Levy's pockets. This guy's supposed to be a billionaire, yet his wallet is firmly sealed shut.

What kind of manager of a top club has to play 3 players out of position? What kind of chairmen sells his best players seemingly willingly and yet harps on about how teams tap up his players whilst not investing any of his own money? All in all, your chairmen has a lot to answer for.

You deserve a lot more than what you are getting, I've always liked Spurs' attacking style. I hope better times lay ahead.

I've just seen Kieran Richardson's goal, good strike, suspicion of a hand, but that's the way your luck goes sometimes.ok

i watched us against sunderland on football first. after they scored we looked really good and i thought we were going to win the game. bentley's delivery was exceptional. there was nothing in the box for him to aim at and if we get a striker i think bentley is going get a lot of assists. every ball was dangerous. its exactly what we were missing

after watching the game i thought we were unlucky and their second goal was totally gainst the run of play. as soon as we sort the forwards out we will be fine

Markinlondon1 - agree with you. The team looked more cohesive against Sunderland after they scored than the did prior to that - or against Boro. Bentley and Modric good signings - once they have someone up front to pass to. Good to see that they didn't just lie down and give up after going one down. But why did it take a goal against them to get them playing reasonably well? I thought they were going to get the win after they tied the game. Need to sort out the striker situation - but not just by selling Berb and hoping to be able to get someone else in.

Spurs need a bit of time and tranquility to work. Don't let Ferguson do whatever he feels like with youse. He knows it's £30million or nothing.

the facts are its probably going to get worse before it gets better. we have chelsea away next and then its 2 weeks before our next fixture against villa at home. that means by mid september albeit after 3 games we will be bottom.

i dont know what these fickle fans want, if they are fans at all? i tend to ignore them

all i can say is that jol was sacked after 1 win from 12. we were abysmal last season. somehow ramos rescued us and we played quality football. people are either not proper fans, are very young or have very short memories.

ramos has got us playing proper football. i lot of messages appeared on our boards straight after the game. that means a/ they didnt go to WHL and b/ they didnt watch the game streamed live either c/ hadnt had a chance to look at any extended highlights.

also when did we ever do well against boro away? we usually lose up in the north-east
ok the sunderland result was poor but then we played badly against everton and fulham at the start of last season at WHL. and you have to admit roy keane has sorted them out. they are a decent team and i would compare their squad to blackburn/west ham's now. they will come 9th-11th.

so its not all doom and gloom. as i said in a previous post man utd after 3 games last season had played 3, drawn 2 and lost 1 and were in the relegation zone. then they won the league. ok we arnt them but who cares about 2 games!

Allyour strikers suddenly just up & leave... ??

OK, so you get good money, but when you reach your limit, you should be able to invoke their contracts. If they still refuse to play, like Berbatov, and you can't or don't want to agree a deal with MU, you should have him suspended by the FA, UEFA, FIFA et al.

What's a contract worth if a player can just uproot & travel?

For that matter, why offer silly money for a player if he's just going to pout & refuse to play for the (unwilling) selling club? If Berba just sat there & sulked, & MU came in offered £2m, where would Spurs be?

Ultimately it depends where the boards balls are.

i am a spurs fan and have watched the 2 games so far this season and i believe that the only reason we havent been able to create many chances or even goals is because we have made so many changes to the team in this transfer season and the team havent connected/gelled yet and because we have sold most of our strikers and have been left with 1. we have got a new keeper, a half injuryed center bk, a midfielder being played right back, an entirly new midfield apart from 2 players =/ and a striker that is lacking in match fitness. so wen they have all had time to gell and get used to the way each other plays, and we get rid of the injurys, i think we will be able to start beating teams lyk we shud b.

I have no sympathy what so ever for tottenham I thought Martin Jol was a good manager and they should have kept him ramos comes in ok wins the carling cup but only had managed a few games in that competition some my say genius others may say luck, however gitting rid of robbie keane, defoe, now berbatov. Poyet came out after the sunderland match and answered to the media why berbatov didnt play he turned round and said wasnt in the right frame of mind journalist said well he played for bulgaria in the week and scored 2 so he must be in some frame of mind poyet speechless. I dont really care for tottenham a good club keeps good players and tottenham obviously aint doing the right things behind the scene soon you will see the likes of lennon etc going ?
