Live - Saturday's SPL action

Scottish Premier
comment on the article

Afternoon all!

Rangers travel to Pittodrie in search of revenge for their capitulation at the hands of the Dandy Dons on the final day of last season - the 2-0 defeat put paid to their stuttering SPL title challenge. Jimmy Calderwood's side will be looking to follow up their fine 1-0 win over Motherwell last weekend.

In recent times, there's certainly been no love lost between the two clubs. The teams lock horns at 1230 BST.

But that's just for starters. There's a plethora of 3pm games...well, five of them...is that enough to merit a plethora?

Champions Celtic entertain Falkirk, Hearts take on St Mirren at Tynecastle, Hibs travel to bogey team Inverness CT, Kilie welcome high-flying Hamilton to Rugby Park and Motherwell hope to get their season going at home to Dundee United.

I'll be providing live updates throughout the day, so send me your messages of support and thoughts as the action unfolds...

As always, you can listen to BBC Radio Scotland's coverage of every game via the BBC Sport website.

Poor old Rangers. All the cash but simply no class. I wonder if Rangers fans understand just how funny they look to anyone from outside of Glasgow?

Walter and Ally must be looking over their shoulders as we all know the loyal loyals are anything but loyal...

No doubt about it Rangers should have had 3 or 4 yellow cards by half time more like! The major decision went Aberdeen's way, but that was the only one the entire match. Maybe if the Rangers fans next to us hadn't laughed at it all.

Please tell me how many fouls Mackie had commited to get a yellow for 'persistent' fouling. I guarantee that it was less than Davie 'Elbows' Weir'

All my love to the Ranger f*d (fan) who old me tonight that Aberdeen were gubbed in Denmark this season. Poor lad doesn't understand how the Uefa Cup works cos he's sat playing wi himsel at home all year!

Rangers got what they deserved because the free-kick which led to first goal was never a free-kick. Just like Boyd shouldn't have got free-kicks for falling down whenever someone breathed near him. Just like Mackie shouldn't have been booked for a nudge and Rangers players should have for twice taken a dons players legs, once from behind.

"Did anyone else how many times Aberdeen passed back to the keeper with their feet only for him to pick the ball up? Is the passback rule over and done with or what?"
What a fvd - they were using their knees.

First half Rangers looked great - best I have saw of them for a while. The Aberdeen goal must have hurt because we weren't the same in the second half. The goal should have stood as well, ball over the top with Beasley a good yard onside - just need to beat the hoops on Sunday to resume normal service

on the basis of the decisions we have seen this season so far, and last, we need video refs, i wouldnt care if it meant a few extra mins on top of normal added on time at the end, it would put an end to all this craap, not just the decisions for the old firm but for all teams

About the offside - I'm sure it stung. When you're getting every single decision going your way, one going to a team outside the old firm (crivvens, what next) must really hurt...

aberdeen were very poor they would struggle in the english championship and on that display barnsley could beat them, which shows just how much rangers will have to improve, if they cant beat a 3rd rate side like aberdeen then its going to be a long season folks.
