England have won the toss and are batting first - but how do you think the day/nighter will unfold?

Do get involved and join the debate.

Bell and Prior built the platform and KP and Freddy cashed in.
Brilliant team play.

Bell may have class but he clearly has problems with his one day set up. Perhaps it is his classical style which made his shot selection so predictable to the South Africans who effectively stopped him from playing when the field was up. Pietersen and Freddie saved our blushes but can't do it every time!

I wonder why Denly has not been given a chance at the top of the order, he scores quickly at the top of the innings and must be worth a try!

Bell's one day performances have inproved steadily over time - in various positions. This time last year he was man of the series against India - at No 3. Now he opening - with variable success and variable partners.

I have been away for a fortnight - and the Bell bashers are still at it - with very little to back it up. Take a look at his record.

And what an asset at short extra cover/mid wicket!

Well done to the two South African's. They produced a match winning performance.

Each of them contibuted tremendously towards the win.

Comparing England's test and ODI performance (so far), it looks like England are better at 'quick' cricket.

Pietersen and Flintoff bashing it away are guaranteed to score huge runs if they get it right (good to see Freddie in form), but in the test series it seemed to me that the difference between the two sides was that the South Africans were capable of batting forever, wearing down the bowlers' resolve, and saving the game. Whereas England's batsmen seemed to have succumbed to the 'go out there, be positive, take the game to them' excuse for a proper philosophy. In the one-day game it seems to be working, though.

I have to agree with teeswolf - Bell is utterly beautiful, as long as he can hack it (199 at Lords showed he can)

On the other hand, England's pace attack is pretty awesome at the moment - I can't say how glad I am that Harmison is back and firing on all cylinders. Now the Ozzies haven't got Warne and McGrath, the Ashes is ours for sure...

well played KP. Great to see flintoff on form with the bat, good start to the odi series however south africa have been a class odi side for some time will come back strongly.

As a aussie follower it makes for a interesting summer next year if england can get it together. However I don't understand why in every article and many posts the Ashes is mentioned each time, England's test record since inning the ashes has been poor losing many test matches, while so far the aussie's have lost 1 test match since losing the ashes.

At the moment australia are concentrating on the big tests ahead India and South Africa which is way before england

KP is the one who can bring back the Ashes to England. He is the right youth leader.

Ironic that the KP-Fred stand was 158, isn't it?
