Think it is a great peice of business.

In SPL terms i don't believe there are many players with his proven quality available, and only at a million pound as well.

Hes a former YPOTY and POTY. His verstiality makes him a good player in the squad. His arrival will hopefully give Mizuno even more time to develop as the heir to Nakas throne when he departs. Also, a natural replacement for Mcgeady should we have to rest him and also allows McCourt time to settle.

Also, he can play upfront, but he is not an out and out striker, but a second striker, in the hole. He would be a good in this position should we adopt such a strategy for European games

I would like to point to some caution in given he did not play a lot for Villa and like his Parkhead days picked up a few injuries, i wonder how far he is away from game fitness.

Even though he did not play often for Villa hopefully he learned something there in regards his game. Better fitness and strength and better decsion making.

Also, if Sno is away, mixed feelings. Felt he had potential but never really progressed would have maybe have liked to give him another year. But good luck to him, AJax under Van Basten won't be a bad place to learn the trade and play more often.

Celtic fans have a short memory. Only 18 months ago they were calling Maloney a traitor for walking out on the club and now welcoming him back with open arms. Celtic did everything in their power, including a big wage rise, to convince him to stay but he was lured by the EPL and could not hack it. No matter the excuses coming from him and Celtic supporters the fact remains he was a failure in England and he took the easy way out. A grovelling apology has made it up to the fans and yet they called him for everything when he went to Aston Villa. If another EPL club offer him another chance he will be away like a shot.
Maloney has treated both Celtic and their fans with disrespect and should have been left where he was to rot in obscurity.

Who were? Some certainly but don't make out everone was angry. Similarily there are a lot of Celtic fans who are angry about his return. You have destroyed your own argument before it even got going with generalisations like that.

Wee Shaun is a good bit of business. He's 25, has learned a bit of humility and maturity which will give him the drive to do better. As WGS said its "...unfinished business" For all he doesn't blame his agent at the time, I do!

manchestercelt......

He was in his last year of his contract after refusing to sign better terms we were going to lose him for nothing in a few months anyway and therefore we hardly played him because of this. We happily sold him for £1m. but paying £2.5 for a player who has now had the experience of playing the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal And Liverpool week in week out, has learnt his lesson and comes back on a 4 year deal and also comes back to a side that he knows he must prove himself. I think it's not a bad bit of business at all.

Of course he's not a money grabber. He took a wage-cut to joins us (Celtic)

For all the Celtic fans unhappy at Maloneys return they need to grow up! There is no loyalty in football anymore end of story, Yes he left us but now hes back and has apologised and looks to be as good as ever. Football is football, some Celtic fans sound like he cheated on them with their wives the way they go on! Its what happens in modern football and Celtic are just as open to it as any other club.
Lets hope for Madrid and Arsenal on Friday. Last 16 will be a long shot but fingeres crossed.

Maloney didn't play well enough to hold down a 1st team spot at Villa. It's tough to watch a talented player struggle like that. Good luck to him back up north. Hopefully, he'll re-discover his form ... and maintain the kind of brilliance he showed in the 4-4 thriller at Chelsea last year when he netted a brace.

Great buy for Celtic coming home to where his heart is. The few games he played for the Villa earned him the respect from the fans. An honest lad, good luck to him, Av will regret losing him...but hoemsickness - afunny thing!
