I simply can't see Faldo picking Poulter..he has totally put himself out of the equation..it comes across as a selfish act..it will be 2 from monty, clarke and casey if casey hasn't qualified automatically

Casey has also opted to stay in the States rather than battle it out for Euro points.

It's Faldo's choice at the end of the day but isn't being part of the Ryder Cup team also about representing the European Tour?

It's all personal choice at the end of the day but I'd be going for Casey (solid if a bit shaky on the last day of Majors) - awesome at the last Ryder Cup and Biffa ..I mean Monty as my 2nd pick. He's too good, experienced, solid and motivated. The Ryder Cup won't be the same without Biffa staring down some drunk US fans ! Go on Big Man ! Poulter ? Sorry not for me...he just doesn't inspire me, at all. Whatever happens ..come on Europe !!

Monty has got the aura hasn't he? He's got the 'let's have it' mentality (but in a nice golfing way hmm). Poulter has got character too but I think that Faldo is a bit 'old school' & will want his players to have earned the right. Faldo is single-minded & a hard nosed winner.

He'll have seen Poulter's recent improved grittiness at the Open but will be also tempted by Casey's birdie bogie game which as I've already said is good for matchplay.

Petterson? You're kidding!

Clarke is in; + one of Monty/Casey/Poulter...

mjjw69 has said it all. I think I'll head for the bookies now. Much as I think Monty is a Ryder Cup legend I don't see how he could be picked this time. Also I hope Justin Rose makes it if only for his total commitment towards his place.

Fair play to Rose for the way he has changed his schedule................hope he makes it.........i think the wild card picks this year are easy..........Clarke and Casey.......the only reason Poulter is being mentioned so much is because there is a media fascination with him........

Clarke and Casey for me, but it is a real shame that Poulter hasn't come back to play as it his fighting qualities that could shine through and may well rattle the Americans.

One thought though, if the 10 seeded players were sorted the other way round...meaning that the 'top 5' were from the European list and the rest were made up of the next highest from the World points list the current 10 would be (in order)

Good deem 'homerschoice', Hanson and Wilson may prove to be lightweights in Team Europe.

I cant beleive that people think Poulter is in contention for a place in the side. He's simply not good enough to merit a place. If the conspiracy theory of Faldo already giving Poulter the nod prove to be correct then Faldo should be given the boot!
Hope for Europe's sake that Poulter misses the cut in the Fed-Ex Cup and Clarke and Casey secure credible finishes in the Johnnie Walker.

Clarke is a gimmie. Casey is too flakey under preasure. Poulter & Casey choosing to play in the US - well Faldo chose to play much of his golf in the US however is does show that they are more for the US money than playing in the Ryder Cup. I'm a romantic at heart and would go for Monty as it's in the US. No friendly cheering crowds to help our boys along. Experience will count for everything and dispite his current stroke play form I think Monty can still pull it off in Match Play. Once the hole's gone he can forget about it and foucs on the next unlike Stroke play. Stack the team with players who have played in the Ryder cup in the US then let the inexperienced learn at home.

Spot on liongeorge. McGinley will surely be considered if he follows his KLM second place with a good finish at Gleneagles. Also, he has never let us down.
