So glad i choose not to go and that i gave the Setanta Subscription a miss cause from listening to 5 live it sounds like i missed the most dyer England performance for a long long time. Some players are passed their prime for England and some are just pass caring please stand up Backham, Lampard, Ashley Cole as the main culprits. Rooney & Gerrard still try hard but with the idiots they playing around them no wonder they are not performing either. Its time for a younger a fresher England team, who want to wear the three lions not just collect their wage packets. I suggest Cappelo shows the team a video of how GB are performing in China and show what will spirit, guts and desire to succeed brings!!!

Embarrassing English mentality here and i am also embarrassed to hear some people want Sven back haha.

Your team drew 2-2 with a good team, you do not deserve to win EVERY match you play, manager tries new tactics you all moan, he keeps the same tactics you all moan, plays old players you moan, plays new young players you moan.

The calls for having Sven back when alot were only to pleased to get rid of him?

Who we need is a manager with:
Juande Ramos: discipline and fitness
Rafael Benítez: Tatical mind
Jose Mourinho: Flair and detirmination
Stuart Pearce: Devotion, detirmination
Wenger: The ability to use youth in a team
and finally
Fergie: The ability to pick correct players and his world renown chewing gum ability.

So in conclusion we need a Mutant Manager smiley

Talking about Gerrard and Liverpool...
'im a villa fan i got no bias for either'

Because villa fans are such big fans of Liverpool..

Anyway, Gerrard is a better player than Lampard. Gerrard with his versitility, going forward and defending. Lampard can hit a powerful shot like Gerrard, but i fear he only scores as much as he does for Chelsea because he's always up one end of the pitch. His lack of pace doesnt help either, even though players like Riquelme can do with out, hes not as skillful as that.

youger-kop...i gotta admit that yeah lpool arent my favourite team just now but we'll take care of that business at villa park nxt wkend..i'm merely suggesting that indeed, and its only my opinion like, that gerrard is hyped a little too much, hes not the class act england and lpool fans think he is, dont get me wrong hes a good player, got a good shot, powerful runner etc, but when did he last play a good game in an england shirt???? exactly, i cant remember either

English International football lives on one World Cup victory won 42 years ago. We have never won anything else and we will not win anything else. The FA and the clubs do not see international success as something to strive for. The players are showered in gold for lack-lustre displays in the domestic game and expect unconditional adulation just for wearing the England shirt. Rooney, Lampard, they do nothing for England and Beckham....,just how limited are the choices for the England squad if he is still getting a game.

There is a liberating quality to finally accepting that which is obvious and not able to be changed which you had previously refused to accept. England are not, and really have not been for many years, a great team. They are a good team capable, on their best of days, of beating anyone, and on their worst days, of losing to anyone. However, they are not capable, nor have they been, of stringing together enough consecutive best performances to win a tournament. That is it, simple and straightforward.

As to why we are not great, the answer also is obvious. We tried different managers, different tactics and different players, and nothing has changed significantly in ten years. The answer is our players are not great - good but not great. A best day for a good team is when all good players play well or better. A best days for a great team is when some of them play well. What do you think is likely to happen more often?

If England ever first ccepts this and then answers the question of why our players are not great, a new beginning can at least be imagined for the future. Until then, nothing will change, good but not great. Madness is repeating everything you did yesterday and expecting a different result.

It wasnt that long ago or is your memory that bad? Recently, the past few internationals he hasnt been as good as for Liverpool but he was considered MOTM Wednesday.

Exactly.

If you look at teams with a lot of England players like Villa, they link up excellently. Why not bring those partnerships into the England team. e.g Barry, Young, Agbonlahor.

The defence is never a problem for England, but the Midfield is. Why keep Beckham when he won't be playing in 2010. He's been a great England player, but England need pacy wingers.

Joe Cole/Ashley Young on the left (Left and right footed options). Right midfield is a little harder. We don't want to be playing players out of position. I'm not sure if Bentley likes centre or right better, but wright phillips is still around somewhere. He got an assist in Chelsea's first game of the season when he was brought on as a sub. He usually does well in his limited England appearances.
