[sorry folks, Australia season has started, so if you CARE then PREPARE, for some updates]

Cricket Australia's 14-squad is now announced, Katich to captain, Vogues (VC), North, Siddle, McGain among others announced to go.

Coach: Simon Helmot

1. that's a great leap for Australia-A, given a state coach like the Victoria coach is to coach an entire series overseas

2. Siddle is in..yipee!! [No Moises, Drouplus, Denton.. yet]

3. Simon Katich stays in India, IF conditions call for a test call-up (..and they will)

4. Another spinner [4-spinners contention] in sight and up for spin!!! Yahoo!! Bryce McGain is up with his leggie-googles break. Good luck boy! [where are Hauritz and Cullen? ..anyone?]

5. Rt-hander Peter Forrest is up..good bat and a superb Steve Waugh-like fielder

6. George Bailey and Marcus North, the trump cards..could pay big.

7. Philip Hughes, my pick of the litter. In the two fast & up-coming lefties, Hughes is the other one. Let's see if he plays down-two or three after Marcus North?

It's time now fellas.

So, it begins. The new OZ year, so to speak as the Autumn approaches, the Brisbane training camp comes to life on August 20th for the Australian squad/A/Sheffield/B/ and reserve squads. The Brisby shared facilities include fifteen nets, artificial turf mats for fielder's drills, and the recently added handful of robotic throw machines will be ready to push the OZ to their limits. Sheffield simply CAN'T see any more shoulder or ankle injuries, pace quota will run low after 2010. So, the U19 call-ups will have to be careful to woo selectors and pursue their inclusion(s).

Clarkey cautioned Kapes on Ashes. The OZ kick-off of the next 12-months includes a busy domestic season, four series, nearly 18 ODI, and possibly 5-10 20/20 games. Hayden is back at the nets, and Punter should join-in soon enough. Other concerns include Tait and Luke's exclusion from the current squad.

This year will be a bit different for the OZ. Warne, May and Nielsen feels the desperation for scouting and having a list of solid 2-4 spinners. Their progress will be before us, after the series in India, once the Shield goes in full swing. I think Peter Siddle will also compete with Shane Watson for the all rounder's post.

If Hayden flies to India, I think he will be back for the Saffas clash with more vigour. Or else, Katich, who has been very patient with his selections or lack of, will pick up his subtle bat to compete with the Victorian Hodge or NSW's Jaques. Jaques being more likely for the Saffas series, Katich I think being a more likely selection [if Hayden is declared "unfit"] for India.

Now, glaze me with your valuable thoughts.

Who are the spinners Aus will send to India?

Bryce McGain [Leg break-googley]
Ryan B. [Leg break-googley]
Beau Casson [orthodox-cinaman]
Jason Krejza [off break]

then there is a leg mark for two more to try out, which would be Xavier Doherty and Jon Holland.

Xavier finishes Sheffield with Tazmania, and a possibility will be at the South A's games.

Jon Holland is still in sights I suppose, his fellow Victorian McGain took the India-A spot, but I see Holland reporting for the South Africa series.

Nathan Haurawitz (sp) should have toured RS he was ok at Mumbai on last tour and held a blinder of a return catch

I think before Nathan, Cullen Bailey will have a go being another decent leg spin googler. Nathan also competed with Cameron White for a spot last year, except Cameron can bat well off course.

Frankly, I am not so sure what are the expecting from McGain, he is another McGiller in terms of age and career. These two guys had to sit out because Warne stretched his career so long.

Nathan is an off spinner

no competition with leggies who are always preferred!

I actually like the majority of the selections for the Australian A squad. The spinners are obviously the one of the most gossip and for all the right reasons. McGain deserves a go for his outstanding season and Casson is for now the 1st choice spinner. I've not heard too much from Krejza but I'd thought Dan Cullen or Xavier Doherty would have been given a go.

As for the batters, it's pretty much everyone I expected bar Luke Pomersbach who is recovering from a shoulder injury. I love the selection of Philip Hughes as I rate him quite highly. I hope Haydos can prolong his career as long as he can so that Hughes can possibly take over (it's a dream for now!). Kato is leading the side and he'll obviously stay for the tour and let's not forget he played a huge role in conquering the final frontier. Clarke and Martyn may have got all the headlines but Kato, batting at No. 3, was a big reason why Australia won. Marcus North, Peter Forrest and George Bailey too deserve their places.

As for the pacemen, I think it's pretty standard. I'm sure Hilfenhaus would have gone if he wasn't injured but that's another issue. but Noffke, Bollinger and Siddle deserve to go after their terrific seasons although I'm not the biggest Noffke fan out there. Ryan Harris will fill the Watson/Hopes role in the team and I think it's great that they are giving him a go.

India should use this opportunity and have the 'Shadow XI' play Aus A and shore up their Test claims smiley

That's what I would call a batsman with serious ambitions and out look on the game.

Aus A will be facing a strong India A side

The first game will be held in Bangalore from September 3 while the second match will be played in Hyderabad from September 9.

India 'A' squad:
S Badrinath (c),
Parthiv Patel (wk), Shikhar Dhawan,
Ajinkya Rahane,
Mohammed Kaif, Cheteshwar Pujara,
Robin Uthappa,
Piyush Chawla,
S Sreesanth,
Vinay Kumar,
S R Tyagi,
Dhawal Kulkarni,
Mohnish Parmar,
Sahil Kukreja.
Amit Mishra.

Players to watch out for:

*Badrinath is an elegant batsman in Dravid's mould
great fielder

*Srikar Dhavan a very correct left handed opener - great fielder

*Prathiv Patil wk is still Mr Iron Gloves a poor keeper that gets selected like Prior because of his batting

*Robin Uthappa aggresive batter in T20 WC but has faded since will be keen to make a comeback

*Kaif this may a last chance saloon a key player and great fielder in 2002, faded away from Test and ODI side after a disastrous SA tour a few seasons ago.

*Piyush Chawla and Amit Mishra - Both leggies ogf immense potential and skill, Chawla is agreat fielder and has the potential of becoming a bowling all rounder.

*Mishra is probably a better leg spinner than Kumble at this momment - huge games for him.

*Kumble has been bowling flat, but is likely to retain his place for Bangalore test

*C Pujara is another promising opener came thru U19 ranks

*And of course the one and only drama queen SreeSanth - he is well behind other paceman and has a lot to prove
