I am so so proud of her!

After all the rubbish she has had to deal with she delivers the race of her life.

Absolutely fantastic.

Seems slightly unfair that if D. Chambers had missed his drug tests, instead of turning up and failing them, then he could have competed at these games. Not saying for sure that Christine cheated in the past, although you'd have to be crazy to miss 3 tests and jeopardise your career without a good reason. I'm sure she's clean now, but still...

Chambers:

I understand your point but

He didn't feel he needed to miss them as he thought the stuff he took was undetectable.

If it was detectable he would have had to miss a lot more than 3 tests over 2 years.

he would have been banned for a year within a month of taking drugs (avoiding testing) as the get tested that often.

he would have been caught out the next month also as they continued to test athletes during their ban unless they take themselves off the register -
and this would keep repeating...

I am not a physiologist so I don't know how long these substances stay detectable in the bloodstream but I imagine that if you are taking substances regularly it will impact on more than 3 tests in 2 years.

an addendum to this is the poor sportsmanship by UKA? or whichevr body they register with who took him off the register 'assuming from comments made to the press' that he no longer wanted to be registered on the scheme and then tried to use this fact to ban him from competing.

I am not a Chambers fan.
I am glad they upheld the BOA ruling on him and thE Olympics and whish sport had a 4 year 1st offence - lifetime 2nd offence rule.

However I don't think you can draw parallels between the Co and DC cases.

British athletics have to someone like her otherwise they would not win much and they would rather have a tainted gold than none at all.
Hope she hasn't got some really important appointments in the future and that she has got someone reliable who can remind her.

Flyinghurdler is just mad at Bolt but someone who missed three drugs tests is clear. Bolt never missed a test and for this crap people talk about the jamaican system, neither does kenya or some other POOR countries, which is where the IAAF comes in and test all year round. You need to know these things before you comment. We could say every athlete is dirty then cause you don't know for sure. Lets just follow them around every second of the day then.

IAAF tested the majority of the Jam team only "1-3 times" as quoted by the IAAF doping records from the period 1st Jan - 31st Dec 2007. This increased slightly in the lead up to the games but only a stupid coach would have his athletes doping during that period.

Hardly comprehensive cover. When you compare this to christines 30+ tests and the average UK programmed athleted who is tested on average once a month.

The Jam system is flawed and untrustworthy... fact
