At relative risk....

Scotland

of upsetting a lot of people,

Are Scotland a better team to watch without BF?
Are Scotland a more positive team to watch without BF?

Will tomrrow night be in anyway useful to the forthcoming quals if no-one in the Scotland set-up admits that BF may have had his day?

I attent Hampden more or less every game (incl. friendlies) and we are, in my opinion, far superior without BF. Yet when the competitive matches come round he's plummed back in to flatten out midfield.
He's been a great servant through a difficult time but it's time to move on. Robson should take his place.
(Calm your OF references, if the shirts Dark Blue I don't care if you're from Azerbaijan with a Granny born in Shetland) I've got nothing against BF, but his time has passed.

thoughts?

I hope we get a result tomorrow, if we don't I think it's gonna be a tough tough qualifying section.

When we play the better teams he is vital for his ball retention alone, however against weaker teams he isn't needed.

On a previous post I commented I wouldn't have Ferguson as captain. The one chaoice that stands out for me is McManus.

I think you could see a better Barry Ferguson with a more creative midfield at Rangers around him, with the duffers from last year Barry made all the passes. This year Rangers will have Mendes and Davis capable of playing the passes, more creative wings and Thomson ever improving. Barry will be able to play his natural game. The same can be said for Scotland, if Brown, Fletcher or Robson in around him can play a more advanced game Ferguson will be able to play a little deeper and pick the passes. No way passed his best.

In relation to his commitment to the team, with the long term injury he has picked up now can can you not see that by limiting his games he has perhaps prolonged his career? He is suffering the injuries now and he has problems for a long time, always seeming to be taking injections. If he had played all the Scotland games available to him we may have already been robbed of one of Scotland's most talented players in the last ten years.

At least if we lose him now though he won't be our only talented player. Remember how bad things were around the Berti era.

I think out of the current squad, the younger players (and lets face it we have a few of them in the team) look up to Ferguson in a way they don't look up to McManus (read the celtic boards they want him dropped), Fletcher and Hartley. He is by far our most experienced player and should be included in every game he is fit. As for him pulling out of squads, there was only about 30,000 at the last friendly at Hampden. If the fans don't show the commitment then why should the players. How many people moaing at him pulling out of the squads are going tomorrow?

I like the way every Non-Rangers fan says he is no good and past his best yet a lot of top managers around Europe have picked him out as a top class player as does every Player he has ever played with

Not to mention the last 4 Scotland managers making him Captain of the Country

I think the opinion of these people mean more than a few people ona football forum

Ferguson will be back and into the first 11 as Scotland captain

He dosen't slow the game down unless it needs slowing down he is very good at starting a quick counter attack although the formations scotland and Rangers have been playing means he very rarely has a good option in front of him

The claims that he is less attacking than Brown are ludicrous which is shown by his better goal to game ration than Brown (for the 07/08 season).

spot on BathCityDandy, and this is from a Gers fan. With the new players being (finally) signed by Watty, I just wish he was punted from Ibrox as well, and let a new era begin

He should deffinatly be in the squad but I think it is an outrage he is captain.

Picking and chosin his games is not on for the national captain. Just wish the SFA had the hairly ones to take the same approach as Italy did with Totti.

Barry Ferguson is by far and away our best player not just our best midfielder, put away your Rangers hatred for just a second and you will see that. Clown.

Hes never our best player!

McGregor
Hutton
McFadden
Fletcher
Brown.

All better footballers than Ferguson.

If youve got a dark blue top on I dont care who you play for week to week. Il be right behind you.

Apart from if your names Gary Teale.

So its nothing to do with rangers hatred muppet.

"Picking and chosin his games is not on for the national captain."

What, you mean like Hartley and Caldwell!

The best Scottish player of his generation and you want him dropped for a journeyman midfielder who's only 1 year younger, with a 10th of his big game experience and half his ability.

Of course it's to do with Rangers hatred. He is Rangers through and through and that's why Celtic fans don't rate him.

If Ferguson passes the ball backwards or to the side it's because he has no options in front of him. He understands the importance of keeping possession, unlike the muppets in the stands screaming for him to lump the ball forward.

A fit Barry Ferguson is the best central midfielder we have, the only way he should be dropped is if he doesn't recover fully from his injuries.
