Protour abandoned

Pat Mcquaid's UCI has abolished the Protour. Presumably, the major tours will brought back into a revamped season.
I feel that the horse has already bolted and every cycle club is organising competitive races with important riders taking part. The national cycling federations have totally lost control of cycling events, fortunately, and it is now in the hands of club cyclists.

Wakey wakey BBC. It's ten minutes since it finished and Eurosport have already posted details of the GB Olympic mens team pursuit triumph and world record. Where is it on the BBC website?

Sounds to me like the UCI have decided to 'allow' some races to choose which teams to invite, instead of forcing them to invite ProTour teams. (As the Tour de France did over Astana).

ProTour by another name, I reckon, but with less bickering and egomaniacal head-butting!

pat mcquaid finally does something right shocker!
been on the cards for a while, but is a good thing.
trying to get riders clean while still asking them to fly thousands of miles and race instantly doesn't bode well does it?
