Steve Banks

Scottish Premier Heart of Midlothian
comment on the article

Does anyone know if there is any truth in todays story in 'the sun'? Its saying that Banks was dumped by Vlad from 1st team, and 1st team coaching as Vlad has lost trust in him. I pray that this is just a made up story. My worry is that if its true, Vlad wouldve intended the Kaunas keeper to be the new no1, but Laszlo choose McDonald, and that it would be the begining of the end for Csaba. Please someone tell me im wrong.

The test will be if Banks moves from the club. If he goes this story may have truth if it doesn't I think Csaba has made the decision to replace him.

I think he'll leave either way if he actually has been demoted to toilet cleaner. We may never find out the truth.

I reckon the test is the following:

If he leaves and shoots his mouth off, then he maybe is the problem.

If he moves on with decorum, and says nothing, then I think it's time to worry.

I thought the season had started much better than I had envisaged a few weeks ago. I knew something would happen that would be baffling, upsetting, daft, or just plain strange. Thought we could maybe go longer than 2 games of the season before it turned up though.
I have a lot of time for Steve Banks, never let us down any time on the pitch, always seemed to be a good spokesman for the club, and generally seemed a nice guy who you would be happy to have a drink with.
I believe he is still the best goalkeeper we have, signing another keeper from Kaunas does nothing but fill me with dread. I dont think anybody will be surprised if that said keeper is the choice for the game on Saturday against St Mirren. But if Banks is not to be No. 1 keeper then he should be goalkeeper coach, he deserves that at least.
Still it isnt surprising, just disappointing and depressing, which player will be next who cant be trusted to play for the club?

Stop speculating on media pish and accept the following:

1) Banks has very little experience as a full-time goalkeeping coach, and

2) We need a better keeper than him.

He deputised well enough in Gordon's absence, but given our history of decent keepers, he doesn't quite match the grade.

That isn't the issue I'm afraid, Jambogreg.

In fact in my eyes the issue here has very little to do with what Banks can and cannot contribute.

It is about the way that Vlad has handled this. Please see my comments on other threads. Regardless of Banks' worth as a player or coach, he is definitely a respected senior figure in the dressing room and behind the scenes. Once again Vlad has apparently done all he can to unsettle the squad and drive a steak through the middle of the dressing room.

There's a bigger picture here.

BBC should get their act together...it says our opening defeat by Motherwell under Banks' picture. We bloody won that.

I fear the worst i.e. Vlad the Interferer. On the other hand, within a couple of days of being here Csaba said he needed a new keeper.

Like many things at Tynecastle, we will never know.

Why did Burley leave again?

I totally agree with jambogrieg HEARTS should be looking for a more experienced GK coach . and I have never thought banks was a good enough goalie for HEARTS

Yes Banks seems like a nice guy, and yes Banks seems like a good spokesman for us, but in my opinion he doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. Good luck to him, but we must look to the future and put some faith in the younger blood.

The media seem determined to give the impression of a constant crisis at Tynecastle, but I'm happy with how we have started this season and i'm patiently anticipating what Lazlo can deliver.
